Profile: The soon to be 35 year old Hill resurrected his way into 429 plate appearances in 2016, less than half of which were with the Red Sox, who acquired him from Milwaukee in early July after hitting a solid .283/.359/.421 for the Brewers. It was Hill’s most productive season (.313 weighted on-base average) since his 86 game 2013 season with the Diamondbacks, and that productivity was likely driven largely by an increase in his batting average on balls in play (.284) much closer to his career .287 BABIP. Even at 35 Hill doesn’t strike out much (14%), still walks at a decent clip (10%), and continues to make solid contact (92%), so it’s no surprise the Red Sox took a chance on his final contract year, giving him limited opportunities at third base. Unfortunately, his production disappeared with Boston (.577 OPS), and there’s no real reason to suspect he’s going to be fantasy relevant in 2017, either. (Trey Baughn)

The Quick Opinion: 2016 was the first season in his last three where Hill’s on-base percentage landed above .300 (.336). Odds are pretty good it falls below that mark again in 2017 as he looks for enough health and playing time to start more than a few times per week. It’s unlikely he’ll be productive enough to play for your fantasy team that much, either.
