Profile: 2016's home run surge was especially harsh on Anderson. After giving up homers at near league-average rates in 2015, he gave up over 1.6 per nine innings in 2016, nearly 42% higher than the rest of the league. Unfortunately, we can't chalk this up to plain old bad homer-to-fly ball luck. While a couple ticks above the league average, the real culprit is that Anderson suddenly started giving up way more fly balls. His 41% fly ball rate wasn't just a career high, it ranked 15th-worst in the league among pitchers throwing at least 150 innings. He gave up more fly balls on his curve, devastating change, and marginalized two-seamer. Compounding his homer issue was a stark increase in walk rate. Anderson fell behind more often, in part because his zone percentage decreased, but also because hitters chased less frequently. In particular, Anderson's curve and change, his two best pitches, induced fewer swings outside the zone by a significant margin in 2016. We've now seen Anderson toss over 400 innings but without the results that his relatively deep arsenal might deserve. Most alarmingly, his loss of control and rise in fly balls suggest he's trending in the wrong direction. He's firmly a deep-league play or streamer in standard leagues. (Rylan Edwards)

The Quick Opinion: Anderson has given us glimpses of serious upside in the past. However, three years into his career, he's not only yet to put it all together but is starting to show signs of an eroding skill set.
