Profile: Pressly bounced back from an awful lat injury that cost him most of his 2015 season to become one of the most trusted pitchers in the back end of Paul Molitor's bullpen last year. The 28-year-old Texan righty saw career-best marks in strikeouts and walks per nine and posted a 3.70 ERA that was backed by a 3.74 FIP. He still gives up a few too many home runs and allows too many base runners (1.35 WHIP) for comfort, but he has all the tools needed to be a solid back-end reliever. His velocity spiked in 2016 as he reached 95.2 mph on average with his four-seamer and 94.2 on his two-seamer, and both his slider (18.3% whiff rate) and curve (20%) are plus offerings. One final step forward could vault him into the conversation about who will close for the Twins in 2017, a title he'll be battling incumbent Brandon Kintzler and newcomer J.T. Chargois for. Ultimately, Pressly has the physical tools to pitch wherever the Twins need him to. Keep an eye on this situation in the spring, because Kintzler isn't a prototypical closer type, so Pressly could steal his job. (@Brandon_Warne)

The Quick Opinion: Pressly has everything one would look for in a closer except results. He doesn't appear too far off from that. With that in mind, he's on the closer watch list heading into 2017.
