Profile: The Orioles inexplicably released Gonzalez on the eve of the 2016 season to save $4 million. The 32-year-old got the last laugh, as he posted his finest major league season to date while the O's had to deal with guys like Vance Worley, Wade Miley, Tyler Wilson and Mike Wright combining to make 30 starts for them. Ultimately, Gonzalez made 24 appearances (23 starts) with a 3.73 ERA (3.71 FIP) and so-so rates across the board. He was just shy of being a 3-plus WAR pitcher (2.7), with just one Orioles pitcher — Kevin Gausman at 3.0 — having a better season. It was all reminiscent of the scene in Tommy Boy where Chris Farley sets the businessman's car on fire after imitating it driving off a cliff due to faulty brakes. "New guy's around the corner, puking his guts out," Farley continues, "all because you wanted to save a couple extra pennies." Was it worth it, Baltimore Orioles? Was it? (@Brandon_Warne)

The Quick Opinion: Gonzalez is the fourth starter on one of the worst teams in the American League. You can do better.
