Profile: Medlen can't stay healthy. He's got two Tommy John surgeries on his resume and only managed 51 innings last year. Medlen hasn't been good by results for a long time -- in 2013, he had 197 innings of superb pitching for the Braves, but that feels even longer than three years ago. Medlen also has below-average velocity -- even after finally making it back to the big leagues presumably healthy, he averaged less than 91 mph, making him a tick slow for a right-hander. Presumably, there's little reason to spend on him. But Medlen also has a top-10-spin curveball, that vaunted change that has always worked for him, and an emerging cutter that got great results last year. He'll get one more shot, probably. Keep an eye on his distance from the big leagues, and hope that his next opportunity is in the National League in a pitcher-friendly park. (Eno Sarris)

The Quick Opinion: There are plenty of reasons not to give Medlen another chance -- injuries, poor results, worsening command, mechanical tinkering that hasn't seemed to produce a repeatable, clean delivery -- but there's still the changeup, the curve, and the cutter. That means he's probably worth another shot.
