  1. Fuck yeah he was good at arguing. Also, love that Weaver can say “told you so” on the HoF argument.

I assume, Dayn, that you’ve seen the infamous Manager’s Corner?

  2. Indeed I am! And if I’m not mistaken, I’ve linked to it before on here.

  3. I had a “Sports Bloopers” VHS when I was a kid that I watched almost weekly. It featured the G-rated portions of this exchange, which in total includes only the line @ 1:10 where the umpire says “You are a liar, Earl.”

When I finally saw the whole, unedited version, I felt that Sports Illustrated or whoever had made the bloopers compilation was trying “to fuck us,” to borrow a phrase.

Editing anything Earl Weaver said robs baseball fans of the entirety of a true national treasure.

  4. Earl Weaver is better at being mad than I am. Although I hope and pray that I’m still a smidge taller than him.

  5. Indeed you did: http://www.fangraphs.com/not/index.php/earl-weaver-and-his-glorious-pottymouth

And in that thread, I linked to this Youtube video. I’m always looking out for you, Dayn, to make sure you’ve seen every video of Earl Weaver swearing on the entire internet.

  7. Is Earl Weaver 4 feet tall or is Sean Bradley umpiring?

  8. Not only was he right about the future HoF induction but he was also right about the “at least i won more than i lost” argument as well, as of that date (Sept.17th 1980) he was 1187-801(.597) and in few innings get win 1188
