  11. Since everyone stares at famous people, and everyone but the famous person likes to commence communicating by hand waves, thumbs-up, smiles, etc, the famous person can opt-out of these endless encounters by wearing sunglasses at night and indoors to avoid eye contact.

Having written that, it may be that no one wanted to catch his eye anyway for fear of getting slaughtered by Che Guerva’s bloodlust, or because he had unwatchable pronation, or because they were scrounging for food. Stated differently, even if you know that Castro believed Eye Contact Avoidance to be the reason (let’s call it “ECA”) that motivated him to wear sunglasses at night (“WSN”), that knowledge does not suffice to show that ECA is a reason, strictly speaking, to WSN. It only shows that the fact that ECA is an external reason to do WSN is a reason to do WSN. That is because it does not show that ECA can explain Castro’s motivation to himself; it only shows that the fact that ECA is a reason for Castro to WSN can explain his motivation to himself.
