For what it’s worth, Ed Johnstone appears to be a knuckleballer; in such category even the very great often feature less-than-sterling K/BB ratios. Does this primacy of the BABIP “skill” feature as powerfully in the other pitchers you investigated?
The engine seems similar to CSFBL’s, which is a pretty good free baseball sim for those who don’t want to shell out el dineros. FIP (which it provides, along with a bunch of other useful stats, including linear weights) are more or less useless because strikeouts are not at all correlated with batting average, as they more or less are in real baseball. Definitely throws you for a loop at first.
