A GIF and a Tune: The Gwinnett Braves Are the Triple-A Affiliate of the Atlanta Braves

The following GIF depicts the Gwinnett Braves not understanding baseball. It comes to you from indispensable friend-to-NotGraphs Well-Beered Englishman.

The following tune comes to you from the Harlem Globetrotters, by ways of YouTube, by ways of a website that rips YouTube audio and turns it into MP3s that you download. To me, the Globetrotter’s theme has always been especially evocative of the embarrassment they dole out to their opponents, of the unpreparedness or haplessness of said opponents.

This has been “A GIF and a Tune”. It is a Tuesday.

Ironically, the umpires were the only people in this GIF who understand baseball.

Furthermore, the tune comes to you from Ben Bernie and Maceo Pinkard, by ways of Brother Bones, by ways of the Harlem Globetrotters, etc.

The 1st base ump certainly does not appear to understand baseball.

This is the Houston Astros’ favorite gif.

Even though it’s rarely called, I do find it interesting that the batter should still be out for interference, since he’s on the left baseline instead of the right baseline.

The gif has so many layers to uncover. Upon first glance I assumed this was going to be related to the hitter’s god awful swing at that pitch.

Seriously, his swing is god awful, is he trying to get hit in the dick the way he’s basically facing forward when the pitch arrives?!

The batter is Francisco Liriano, but his being a pitcher is no excuse for that swing.

Seriously- these people are all professional baseball players? Since it’s AAA- does that make these guys replacement level. Ouch. I heard someones describe the Astros as a double A team- the Astros would destroy these guys- the Astros at least know how to play baseball- even if they actually can’t execute said knowledge.

The confusion, of course, was caused by the first base umpire signaling out when the first baseman either did or didn’t catch the line drive. Needless to say, no one knew what was going on. It appears as though the umpires changed the initial call while the ball was still in play.

It certainly contains multitudes.
