Curt Schilling Killed Rhode Island

The New York Times with a long look at Curt Schilling’s failed video game company and the millions of dollars of Rhode Island taxpayer money lost in the venture.

Also, Gov. Lincoln Chafee is going to have a hard time getting invited to the Fenway Park luxury boxes:

“I just remember his own teammates didn’t like him,” Mr. Chafee said in a radio interview the day after the vote. “They thought he was a bit of a salesman. I remember one of his teammates said he painted his sock, the bloody sock, he painted it.” (That story turned out to be inaccurate.) Mr. Chafee added, “I don’t know if I trust Curt Schilling.”

This article does not make me want to start a video game company or live in Rhode Island.

Seem to recall him being a big fan of George W. Bush.

Know your place, Bush-ites! Instead of endeavoring to make a go at business, employing creative people to make a product others want, you should be exchanging your fiat currency for gold, constructing impractical pits to house said gold (I’ll assume the Welsh are available as labor?), and then perform daily cardio by swimming around it–spitting krugerrands at the end of your swim like a poor family might spit the lukewarm urine saturated fluid found in a local community pool.

Indeed, the gaul.

I’m sorry, are you actually trying to spin Curt Schilling’s actions as socially productive? The guy who not only took the state of Rhode Island for millions of dollars, but who also screwed his employees over six ways from Sunday, including sticking some of them with two mortgages? Everyone would be better off if he had dug a pit in the ground and filled it with his gold.

Another story of the folly of being surrounded by “Yes” men.
