I am known in certain circles, though not all circles, as an SEO wizard.

If the GIF of Puig’s homerun is at 99 mph, does that make his bat flip even faster and harder?

No, it’s like a fly flying around in your car when you’re on the highway. It is not the 70 MPH + the 8 MPH (of the the fly flying) = 78 MPH. Realistically the fly cannot fly 78 MPH, I think I learned that in physics. Puig is the fly and Cole is the car in this analogy.

It’s a frame of reference issue. In reference to a fixed point on the ground the fly is going 78 mph. In reference to a fixed point in the car the fly is going 8 mph. So, relatively speaking, either interpretation is correct depending on your frame of reference. Thus while the bat could be seen as swinging faster given the proper orientation, the pitch to Puig would be seen as moving slower, yielding the same overall net kinetic energy result. Now that I’ve made myself feel like a pompous overly intellectual smart-ass I’ll go back to my menial job as an office monkey.

Possibly what Dan is referring to, is the fact that the air in the car would be moving at 70 MPH. The air in the car being the medium through which the fly flies, it will accelerate the fly to 70 MPH, and the fly will only be physically capable of establishing an 8 MPH differential from the medium through which it is moving. This would mean that its range of possible true velocities would be from 62 to 78 MPH depending on its vector.

General relativity, concept of time dilation. Puig is traveling 99mph faster than we observers, so he actually ages less quickly than we do for the ~0.4s it takes for him to hit the mitt. If Gerrit can repeat this action indefinitely, Yasiel Puig will live forever. I repeat, YASIEL PUIG WILL LIVE FOREVER.

This needs a mega-GIF where we see all of Cole’s pitch locations at one time throwing Puig’s Grand Slam.

I move that we place Temple in stocks until a trial to determine his fate can be properly established. Such obvious sorcery is a product of that minion of Damian, the rogue Venetian Machiavel himself. O! what cruel treachery this be

It’s spelled “Yasail”. Cistulli assures me this is so.

The movement on that Yasiel Puig grand slam is filthy. The way it runs down and away from the left-handed batter makes that Yasiel Puig grand slam all but unhittable.
