And you can tell as much by the silences as by the words he uses.
The Marlins must trade Giancarlo Stanton for Hawk Harrelson. It’d be a win-win trade if this audio is any indication.
When the Athletics played a three game series in Chicago a few weeks ago it seemed they (A’s) picked Hawk up only to crush his spirits in at least two of the games. The Adam Dunn fly out to the warning track to end game one was particularly entertaining.
The game after that was even better, when Reddick robbed that thing from Gillaspie.
“Stretch! Stretch! …NO…not again!”
You gotta love Angry Hawk :-D
Needs more “dadgum it!”
I listen via Android toys, and I really miss the old timer voices. Have you heard the Astros announcers? I think I’m at a chess match or something. Gimme Hawk over that anyday allday!
You might as well be at a chess match.
Never was there a sound as sweet
As Hawk watching his Sox get beat
Steve Stone and Hawk Harrelson appear to be broadcasting from a cave or bathroom.
this is all kind of reminiscent of bill o’reilly going nuts early in his career “f#ck it! we’ll do it live! WE’LL DO IT LIVE!!!”
Someone needs to find the audio of Hawk calling the Jhonny Peralta walk-off homer against the Sox either last year or two years ago. Over a minute of on-air silence. It was beautiful.
Here you go! Not the full minute, but it gives you the flavor:
Temper, temper, Hawk. Your boys will come back in the bottom of the 9th.
I normally don’t like Hawk’s blather, but I almost felt bad for the guy here
Can anyone find a video of the ending of the May 15, 2012 Sox-Tigers game? That was a delight!
I like to think he was trying to cool off by counting to five before losing it after two.
He’s obviously been warned.
