Lazily Testing a Theory with Regard to Alex Rodriguez

Jeff Passan of Yahoo has submitted a science hypothesis to the teeming masses by way of media sociale, as follows:

Perhaps? Perhaps. Ultimately, this isn’t the point. For, whatever the virtues of Passan’s suggestion, chief among them is how readily it (i.e. that suggestion) lends itself to the nearly effortless production of weblog content.

Regard, a lightly edited image which has required almost nothing of the author and which is also quite embiggenable:

A-Strong

What has happened here? Little. What is about to happen? Even less.

Thanks Carson! If nothing else, at least the jpg name has encouraged me to officially adopt “A-Strong” as the new nickname for Mr. Armstrong.

Theory and hypothesis are not synonymous. Don’t worry, science is riddled with human error.

My existence is the only flaw with your otherwise fine theory.

Actually, they’re very different:

1) ARod never used a charity as a shield against doping allegations
2) ARod never demanded that his teammates dope
3) ARod does not have a long history of suing people accusing him of doping
4) ARod did not retire, then make a comeback
5) Arod was not brought down by a disgruntled former teammate
6) Arod never hindered the on-field performance of other players as payback for doping allegations
7) ARod never had exclusive access to the best doping doctor in the field
8) When ARod moved to a new team with an established star, he did not try to usurp that star’s leadership
9) Arod did not commit perjury
10) ARod did not have officials in MLB trying to protect him

I could go on, but you get the idea.

Of course. Just because something is intended in humor doesn’t give someone license to invent a comparison from whole cloth.

ARod never used a charity for evil because he couldn’t be pissed to found one.

Too busy buying centaur paintings of himself.

The centaur painting was a gift from a fan, wasn’t it?

A-Rod’s probably just a huge fantasy/sci-fi nerd like R.A. Dickey or Jayson Werth.
