Members of the 1979 Tampa Bay Rays
When the Tampa Bay Rays revealed their “throwback” uniforms for a time in which they did not exist, a rip in the time-space continuum occurred, creating an alternate universe in which the Rays did in fact play in 1979. In a NotGraphs exclusive, a peek at some of the members of the 1979 Tampa Bay Rays:

Must have been hella confusing with everyone having the same number.
It was the ’70s. Everything was confusing.
Badass uniforms, the Rays should adopt them full-time. Retro jerseys seem to be in vogue, what with the Jays going back to the throwback logo (throwing back to the logo?) as well, which, given the way I fetishize anachronism as an expression of yearning for never-existing simpler times, I really don’t mind at all.
Nostalgia for things that never happened is my favorite. The Orioles have brought back the bird logo this year as well.

These better have mesh back caps…

They totally blew it though, the colors and name should be for the Devil Rays.
