NotGraphs Haiku: Uncle Charlie

Dear Uncle Charlie,
Twelve-to-six, or two-to-eight,
You’re my favorite.

This has been a NotGraphs Haiku.

And this was entirely an excuse to post the above GIF, for which all praise goes to @ChadMoriyama. And Uncle Charlie. And Clayton Kershaw.

That last line is wigging me out. I believe “you’re” is one syllable, but it is sometimes differentiated from “your” (usually said ‘YORE’) by sort of enunciating it as ‘YOO-rr’. Even stranger is that “favorite” seems to be pronounced ‘FAV-rit’ more often than the perhaps more correct ‘FAV-o-rit’. All in all, if I was to casually say that haiku, the last line would probably come out as four syllables.

What the hell am I talking about, that curveball is beautiful.

Actually, if you say “YOO-rr” as two syllables as you suggest, and FAV-rit as 2 syllables, then with “my” in the middle, that adds to 5.
