Because the original didn’t do Rob Neyer’s veggie dog any justice. At all.

NotGraphs’ Investigative Reporting Investigation Team has confirmed that Neyer, upon receiving his veggie dog, was wished, “Bon app├ętit.” They really know how to make you feel at home in Philadelphia.

H/T: Rob Neyer, who is better than me, than you, than all of us.

Neyer gets what he deserves, especially when you consider he could have had an eggplant panini and some crab fries instead.

Moreover, he’s not 12 anymore, which is the last acceptable age for someone to willfully consume a hot dog, vegetarian or otherwise*. The meat-in-tube-form versions are mass produced high octane crap (to borrow a phrase). Salty steattorhea on a bun. Incredibly, the vegetarian versions are worse tasting. Why they’re trying to replicate an already awful flavor is besides the point, I suppose.

*It is ok to eat hot dogs over the age of 12 as part of a food pageant, I suppose. Although we’re stretching the definition of “eat” here, given the end outcome for most eating contest contestants.

That is a wrinkly atrocity. Why is it so wrinkly? Did they run out of veggie-stuff to pack the skin with?

God, those wrinkles. I just can’t get over them.
