Potentially Awesome Blue Jays Logo News

By now, you guys have probably seen Getting Blanked blog:

Oh my. I do believe I am getting the vapors.

This is the best logo in baseball history. Yes, there’s the Brewers ball-in-glove logo. Everybody knows about it. It’s awesome. But there’s just something special about the color combination and the retro feel and the all around good vibes I feel when I look at this work of mastery and art and just fantastical niceness.

Please be real.

The team-name font is the same as the leaked Marlins logo. The MLB logo is placed in the exact same place. The Marlins logo has already been confirmed as real. I like our odds. Just please be real.

Wow, it’s like a sleek, classy throwback. It’s everything you want in a logo. It’s also about as far as humanly imaginable from the Marlins new logo.

Dear God (Alex Anthopolous)

Please make this logo the new one, the “J” sucks.

The typeface stinks, but the logo is like a little trail of puffy clouds in heaven’s own wake.

I agree it’s a nice logo. Simple and classy. But is it at all different from the traditional Blue Jays logo, absent the baseball behind the bird?

Ah, I see the differences now:

Sleeker, more aggressive, better colors.

Uni Watch Blog says the logo itself is real. The word mark is just a standard font and is not real (same for the Marlins). Awesome news.

About F’in time! The current logo and uniform is garbage. I remember when they first unveiled them here with that pathetic gray home cap. Horrible.

Gray? Excuse me but that was marketed as “classic charcoal”. It looked like it was a black cap left in the sun for too long, but it is “classic charcoal”

As a lover of the current logo, I can live with this new design. As long as the bird looks somewhat angry, I’m good. #Jerkball

The current logo tries to hard. Reminds me of the Patriots logo in that it’s a pretty harmless character trying to look intimidating by being grotesquely sleek. I think that style of logo looks dated rather quickly.

I’d be an angry jay too if someone superglued a maple leaf to the base of my crest.

Does anyone else find the maple leaf a bit obnoxious? I’ve lived within a few hours of Toronto my whole and the yet I don’t want that maple leaf to be there. I mean, it even looks good, but I’ve had enough of the “look at how Canadian we are” mentality. No offense to most of you guys but if every american team had stars and stripes on their logos I’d puke a little.

I think, visually, it works excellently. And most MLB fans aren’t Canadian, so aren’t sick of the maple leaf. Do you think it’s really a turn off for most Canadian MLB fans?

Nah, I’d assume most Canadians like it. And you’re right, it looks great. It’s just a personal thing I guess but I’m not a fan of the unnecessary nationalism.

You do not stand alone, good sir. I, a Dutch Jays fan, also do not support unnecessary nationalism. Be it Canadian, Dutch or American.

BlueJays got rid of the Maple Leaf and got ALOT of flack about it from the media.. and canadian citizens

Why don’t we have a picture of Her Majesty on the Jays logo?

I love this logo design. It’s like the classic one that everyone seems to love, though, I prefer this much over the old one. It’s sleek, it’s bright, it’s got a leaf, what more could you ask for from a logo?

Things they could have done: Put the current Angry Jay on the old two-tone hat.
Things they’re likely to do: put this faux-retro logo on a black hat.

Perhaps I’ve imbibed too much scotch and so my manliness has been overcome by this news but I shall now shed a small, perfectly formed tear for the end of the morass known as the Jays Uniform(s) of the past while. I’ll long remember the day that a little butterfly alighted on O-Dog’s shoulder during a game and added no small measure of mirth and whimsy to anotherwise ho-hum contest – all while they sported their hideous black hats and dreary pantaloons. Fairwell to all that, then, and more scotch!
