Are mine eyes deceiving me or is this a weekend NotGraphs post?

I caught this semi-live Thursday night. I found it interesting that they carried out a meandering 6-minute conversation about crime without ever really delving into James’ book or its premise. I’d sort of like to know a little more about the book without having to effort to dig that info up, but I reckon James isn’t exactly a pitch man … well at least not that type of pitch man.

LOL! Heads Batted In would be a meaningless statistic because some killers would have more opportunities to bash heads in than others.

When it comes to evaluating killers statistically, I prefer weighted Kills per 9 months and Deserved Prison Sentence Length Above Common Criminal.

The guy just has no machine gun command. Rate of fire means nothing if you can’t locate the bullets.

If only Colbert spent the entire interview talking to James as if he thought he was Orson Welles. Best interview ever…

For those who have a MLB TV account with archive access, there were a couple of shots during the Jays’ broadcast of Verlander’s no-no on Saturday of a bespectacled Bill James clone decked out in Tigers’ gear preceding the final out (see 2:40:40 and 2:42:30 marks of the replay). That guy must be the Tigers’ senior sabermetric advisor.
