Video: FIP: A New ERA

The only problem with the above video, called FIP: A New ERA, is that writer, director, producer, illustrator, and narrator (?) Bradley Woodrum didn’t release it before January 1st — which, that means it won’t be eligible for this year’s Academy Awards.

It’s a bit of a must-watch situation, this, but two salient details that’ll give you at least a broad sense of its content are as follows:

1. It’s about FIP, and

2. It has a dragon in it.

A DRAGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just was curious, will Dave and Dave be posting more often here? I keep seeing them at the bottom of the list of NotGraph authors …

Love the video and the basic premise of FIP. However, to say FIP isn’t effected by the defense is false. Using IP in the denominator for FIP ensures that non-K outs, which the pitcher has no proven way of controlling, and are generally controlled by luck, batter, and defense, are factored into the equation, I know that Tango has stood by using IP over PA for FIP a few times (which strikes me as somewhat odd, considering his insistence of rates states), and FIP in it’s current form holds up extremely well when K < 10; however, FIP with PA instead of IP holds up even better, and removes the fielding aspect.

Just my small rant on why the name for FIP is misleading.

    • Excellent points Marshall!

I think those points might be a bit complex for a video series aimed at saber newbies, but I do plan on making more FIP videos, so I will investigate your claim for sure.

  11. Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. Nevertheless think of if you added some great images or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and clips, this site could certainly be one of the greatest in its niche. Wonderful blog!

  14. With every thing which appears to be developing inside this subject matter, a significant percentage of perspectives happen to be quite stimulating. Nonetheless, I am sorry, but I can not subscribe to your whole idea, all be it exciting none the less. It seems to everybody that your remarks are generally not completely justified and in fact you are yourself not even entirely certain of your argument. In any case I did appreciate examining it.

Nice blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog shine. Please let me know where you got your theme. Thanks a lot

  17. Hey there this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding know-how so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

  18. In the great pattern of things you’ll receive a B+ with regard to effort and hard work. Where you actually confused everybody ended up being on the details. You know, as the maxim goes, details make or break the argument.. And that couldn’t be much more true in this article. Having said that, let me say to you what did do the job. The writing is certainly extremely engaging and that is most likely the reason why I am making the effort in order to comment. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Second, even though I can easily see the jumps in reasoning you make, I am not necessarily convinced of exactly how you appear to unite the points which inturn make the actual final result. For the moment I will, no doubt subscribe to your point however hope in the future you link your dots much better.

Great site you have here but I was curious about if you knew of any discussion boards that cover the same topics discussed here? I’d really love to be a part of group where I can get feedback from other experienced people that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Bless you!

The heart of your writing while sounding reasonable originally, did not really work very well with me after some time. Somewhere within the sentences you managed to make me a believer but only for a short while. I still have a problem with your leaps in assumptions and one might do well to fill in those gaps. When you can accomplish that, I would surely be fascinated.

  21. Together with the whole thing that appears to be building throughout this particular area, many of your perspectives are rather stimulating. Even so, I beg your pardon, because I do not give credence to your entire idea, all be it stimulating none the less. It would seem to everyone that your remarks are generally not completely validated and in actuality you are generally yourself not completely convinced of your argument. In any case I did appreciate looking at it.

  22. With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My site has a lot of completely unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any methods to help reduce content from being stolen? I’d really appreciate it.
