As a central Illinois resident, I feel the Cubs made a huge blunder in abandoning their Central Illinois market for minor league baseball.
They recently got rid of their Peoria, IL affiliate and moved to a team in the Chicago suburbs (Kane County).
I have been to both stadiums numerous times and have this to say to the Ricketts family: You are missing out on a huge Central Illinois market of baseball fans that will probably turn their heads to St. Louis or even KC if they become prevelant. Chicago already has the loyalty of a market like Kane County, because fans from the suburbs have no where else to go (besides the White Sox).
They are getting rid of years of tradition, like when the 1980's Peoria Chiefs team won the pennant with superstars like (greg maddux, mark grace, and joe girardi.)
I'm sure this is a revenue thing, and they are bound to make more money short term in Kane County as opposed to Peoria, but the longterm outlook hurts the fan base (not that they need much help).
