Profile: Ivan Nova made the most of his 11 starts in Pittsburgh to curtail his midseason trade into a three year deal with the Pirates for a modest $26m. The Pirates, and Nova, may both be happy about him remaining in Pittsburgh if he is able to come close to emulating his performance down the stretch run last season. Nova walked an absurd three batters in his 11 starts after the trade from the Yankees. The NL will suit Nova much better than the gruesome AL East, as would most pitchers who pound the zone and have home run issues. Nova utilized his four-seam fastball much less in Pittsburgh than in New York, which makes his low walk rate even more impressive. If he is able to pound the zone consistently without throwing his very hittable four-seamer very often, he could be a real asset to the Pirates and fantasy owners alike. Nova will likely never be a high strikeout pitcher, but with a good defense in a pitcher's park in the NL, this is a close to optimal situation for fantasy owners to target Nova as a mid-rotation starter. (Ben Duronio)

The Quick Opinion: Nova's move to the NL makes him a much more viable fantasy target for the middle of a standard league's rotation. He is able to pound the zone consistently which will pay more dividends in Pittsburgh than it ever did in New York.
