Profile: Eggs continues to mature as a pitcher. He had issues putting batters away earlier in his career but scrambled scouting reports by adding Alex Cobb's split-change to his repertoire along with a cutter. Odorizzi works vertically in the strike zone while painting corners, and like many Rays pitchers in 2016, he was victimized by the long ball at a high rate due to the fact he works up in the zone so frequently with his fastball. He has maximized his abilities on the mound, so it is unlikely his approach to batters will change anytime soon. Odorizzi is out there to get ahead and then make you chase Thing 2 as it falls off the table on its journey to the plate. He is really a number three but has had to pitch as a number two over the past two seasons. (Jason Collette)

The Quick Opinion: Odorizzi's WHIP is solid, but it is offset by the propensity for the big fly. He is always around the strike zone, so batters will try to get to him early before they are left guessing changeup low or fastball up. There is not much upside from here unless MLB deflates the baseball, but there is also little downside to him.
