Profile: Santana was easily the biggest (if not only) bright spot in a Twins rotation that finished last or nearly last in virtually every meaningful statistic. No team had a worse rotation ERA than the Twins, but don't blame Santana, who picked up steam as the season wore on, finishing with a 3.38 ERA — his lowest since 2013 — and good-but-not-great rate stats. It didn't start that way, however, as Santana carried a 5.00-plus ERA well into June. He finished his June 14 start with a 5.10 ERA, but from that point on was absolutely fantastic in his final 18 starts: 2.41 ERA, .589 on-base plus slugging against and a 100-32 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 116 innings. Only once in Santana's final 18 starts did he allow more than three earned runs, and as a result, there was little reason why he was considered one of the Twins' best trading chips, not only at both trading deadlines but also this offseason. As of now, however, it looks as though he'll be with the Twins to start 2017. For a guy who has thrown more than 2,000 innings and fired a lot of sliders, the end is always one sore arm away, but he's been incredibly durable to this point in his career. He threw harder than he had at any point in the last five years in 2016 (92.7 mph average) and thus seems to be a good bet to again be a fairly solid back-end fantasy pitcher. (@Brandon_Warne)

The Quick Opinion: He's not sexy, but you can do far, far worse for a back-end starter in fantasy leagues. He'll be much more useful in deep leagues, however.
