Profile: No pitcher has allowed a higher line drive rate than Farquhar since his debut (min. 200 innings). Hitters just square him up. The 2016 season was a weird one: he struck out a ton of hitters, stranded a ton of runners, and gave up a ton of home runs. He leaned more heavily on his changeup than ever before; it might've been baseball's filthiest change last year, with all due respect to Felipe Rivero. Unfortunately, contact-quality issues will likely always plague Farquhar. It doesn't mean he can't be effective — the whiffs make him less vulnerable — but it also makes him volatile and, combined with a lackluster walk rate, not particularly valuable. Alex Colome proved himself plenty capable of handling Tampa Bay's closer role, and Xavier Cedeno figures to be the primary contingency plan until further notice (not to mention Brad Boxberger waiting in the wings). That leaves Farquhar much farther from fantasy relevance than one might hope, and he's not good enough to fill the role of an inning-eating, ratio-padding middle reliever. He's best left off draft boards in 2017. (Alex Chamberlain)

The Quick Opinion: Farquhar relied more heavily on his filthy, filthy changeup in 2016, yet hitters still continued to square him up. His bad 2015 season was a blip on the radar, but he's a far cry from generating any kind of meaningful fantasy value. He's a non-factor for 2017.
