News: Putz said that his elbow feels great and that he's scheduled to begin throwing bullpen sessions soon, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Analysis: He's hoping to throw two or three bullpen sessions before the start of spring training, while he's currently throwing from 150 feet. Even with the possibility of Bobby Jenks ultimately being replaced as the White Sox's closer at some point in 2010, keep in mind that Putz's health will remain a question mark until he shows signs of regaining his pre-New York form. Further, Matt Thornton could actually be ahead of him in the pecking order for save chances should Jenks falter, get hurt, or end up getting traded at some point.

News: Putz (elbow) has signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the White Sox, ESPNChicago reports.

Analysis: Putz had surgery to remove bone chips in early June and also underwent an MRI in late August that showed some fraying and a slight tear in his right forearm, so we'll have to watch his progress this winter. He'll serve as a set-up man for closer Bobby Jenks and has upside for saves if the White Sox lose faith in Jenks.
