News: The Giants are close to a one-year deal with Uribe, FOX Sports reports.
Analysis: San Francisco is also close to a deal with Mark DeRosa, who is expected to play third base, moving Pablo Sandoval to first and Uribe into a utility role. The two sides haven't officially agreed to any deal, but an announcement may not be far off.

News: Uribe is getting more playing time as the regular third baseman with Pablo Sandoval (elbow) limited to first base, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: He's started the last six games over at the hot corner, going 6-for-20 (.300) with five RBI during that span. Don't expect him to continue hitting .288, however, as Uribe's plate discipline (3:14 BB:K ratio in 73 at-bats) is suspect and he hasn't slugged over .400 since 2006.
