News: The likelihood that Francis (shoulder) will need season ending surgery is increasing, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Francis is a long way from returning to the field, and the attempts to gain his health without the use of surgery have not been progressing well. "There's no set date to make a decision. I will continue to see how it feels," said Francis. At this point, Francis appears poised to cut his losses and opt for surgery with enough time return for spring training 2010.
