Paul Sporer Chat – 6/16/2016

Chat transcript below!!

11:24
Paul Sporer: Let’s go ahead and get started!

11:24
Minty: Is Stanton a buy low, or just wait for next year guy?

11:30
Paul Sporer: I mean, it won’t get much lower. Ya, I think I’d take a shot at a nice discount

11:30
The Man With The Plan: Yo Paul, whats up?

11:30
Paul Sporer: Yoooo!

11:30
Jon: Hey Paul, do you think Iglesias could get the Reds closer job when he returns?

11:31
Paul Sporer: He could, yes. Wonder if they might avoid that, though, so it doesn’t become harder to gte him back to starting. But yes, he really could

11:31
Yankee Doodle: Miller and Chapman for Schwarber. Who says no?

11:31
Paul Sporer: Not sure the Yankees are moving both for a guy who just ripped his knee up

11:31
Rob: Should we be worried about Taijuan’s health right now?

11:32
Paul Sporer: Latest is that he’s on track for Sunday, but this is another little injury. Those things pile up. I’m a little concerned

11:32
Joe Beef: What is a fair return right now for Alex Bregman in an AL-only keeper league?

11:33
Paul Sporer: I have no idea. That kind of question is entirely dependent on your market. Should return a solid piece, though

11:33
Dave: Any hesitation starting Nola today against a Blue Jays team that is heating up?

11:33
Paul Sporer: Nervous just bc it’s TOR, but nah you gotta start him. He’s been SO good

11:33
The Decadent Moose: How does McHugh stifle the Cardinals for 7 innings with an ERA close to 5? (I think it dropped .7 last night)

11:35
Paul Sporer: A 5 ERA doesn’t mean you allow 5 every time out. He has a 4.89 this year and it includes 5 starts of a 60+ game score (anything over 60 is really good). Go look at someone like Colby Lewis, a true #5. To make 33 starts in this league with an upper-4.00s or even low-5.00s still requires a lot of good starts

11:35
Jon: How would you rank these schlubs ROS? Nelson, Eovaldi, Liriano, Gausman, DeSclafani

11:37
Paul Sporer: Liriano, Eovaldi, Gausman, Nelson, Desc

11:37
Jon: Thoughts on Blake Snell ROS?

11:37
Paul Sporer: I think he’ll have some rookie volatility, but strong enough to merit all-formats rosterability

11:38
Saves Vulture: Can we call Steve Cishek a solid closer now or do we expect bad times ahead? Who gets the call if he gets the boot?

11:38
Paul Sporer: HRs are an issue and that’s awful for a closer, but ya I think we can feel OK about him. I drafted him on the cheap in a couple lgs

11:38
Hispano Bork: Β‘Hola, amigo!

11:39
Paul Sporer: Hi!

11:39
mtsw: You don’t still do the weekly pitching matchup report do you? Is there anywhere you know of that does an ordinal ranking of overall bullpen strength like the report featured?

11:39
Paul Sporer: I don’t know of a place. I could be bringing that back to RG, though, so stay tuned

11:39
A. Reitz: Thoughts on Max Kepler? Is he up for good? ROS projections?

11:41
Angry Carl: Paul! Thanks for covering Eno…Giolito, A Reyes, Taillon, Snell, Glasnow, Berrios in the right order for dynasty?

11:42
Paul Sporer: for dynasty so not just this year… Gio, Taillon, Berrios, Snell, Reyes, Glasnow … tough to find much separation in that group, too

11:43
AL Pitching Coach: I can’t figure how out good Matt Shoemaker really is, and I’m having trouble deciding if I should trade for him. Thoughts?

11:44
Paul Sporer: Depends what you’re giving. But we have seen an extended run of success before. There are skills improvements backing the run, too. I feel comfortable trusting him

11:45
Dave: In a 16 team 6×6 league with K/BB being the additional category, which high K and high BB guy who do you prefer ROS? Pomeranz or McCullers?

11:45
Paul Sporer: Pomy

11:45
Wood: Rank in a 10-teamer 5×5: snell, taillon, Paxton, fulmer. Thanks!

11:45
Paul Sporer: Fulmer, Paxton, Taillon, Snell

11:45
Czarcasm: Hi Bork!

11:45
A. Reitz: Any chance the Dodgers promote Jharel Cotton or Frankie Montas soon? Bolsiner/Stripling…surely they are better than that.

11:47
Paul Sporer: Montas will probably get a chance soon. I don’t think those 2 are discernibly better than Bols/Strip, though

11:47
Paul Sporer: Montas has nice upside, but unlikely to be at his upside upon arrival

11:47
mtsw: Time to give up and drop Prince Fielder in mixed leagues?

11:48
Paul Sporer: 10 and 12 teamers, I can see it

11:48
Paul Sporer: BTW, please don’t repeat your questions. The queue is loaded, it’s gonna take a little bit

11:48
The Kid: Good God, man! Where’s Eno?

11:48
Paul Sporer: I fired him

11:48
The Man With The Plan: Where is Joey Gallo? WHERE?

11:49
Paul Sporer: About 30 miles north of me in Round Rock, TX

11:49
Trade Junkie: Does Ryan Braun get moved this season?

11:49
Paul Sporer: Perhaps. I’d say 60/40 no, but it’d be cool for a huge trade

11:49
Mike: Paul – Thanks for filling in for Eno! I just traded Hamels and Hanley for Abreu in my 10-team H2H league with standard cats. Good move?

11:53
Paul Sporer: That’s a little steep, tbh. Hanley hasn’t been that far from Abreu this year and still carries strong upside. But it’s not a team ruiner

11:53
The Man With The Plan: James Paxton is this years ________

11:56
Paul Sporer: There’s no perfect analog from last year. Could do some Carlos Carrasco 2014 stuff if he stays healthy

11:56
John Johnson: How do you feel about Carlos Correa? Struggling a little bit, but no reason he’s not still a top 5 dynasty guy, right?

11:57
Paul Sporer: Exactly. I’m reluctant to even say it’s a struggle. He’s a hot run away from removing any of those kinds of questions

11:57
Paul Sporer: and yes, still a top dynasty guy

11:57
Jack: Start Paxton today at TB?

11:57
Paul Sporer: Yeah

11:57
The Man With The Plan: SPOOOOOOOOONER!

11:57
Seabass: You’re not Eno….

11:57
Weltmeister: What’s wrong with Bryce Harper? Hasn’t been hitting since the start of may.

11:58
Paul Sporer: Joe Maddon broke him! Honestly, I think that played a role. The new way to approach him has left him pressing on the few opportunities he gets each game. He’ll be fine, though

11:58
Miketron: Addison Russell or Alex Bregman long term?

11:58
Paul Sporer: Russell

11:58
Seabass: Pauleno Sporarris

11:58
Paul Sporer: LOL

11:58
Rah Rah: Do you expect the Astros to make some moves over the next month, even if it’s just in terms of call ups? I can’t figure out if we’re actually going to see Bregman or Reed any time soon.

11:59
Paul Sporer: Ya I expect them to be active. They’re not going anywhere. I think those 2 will be up within a month, but that’s a pure guess (as it always is with prospects)… speaking of, Willson Contreras called up

11:59
The Kid: Todd Frazier – BB% way up from career rates and BABIP seems to be quite a bit lower than career rates, OBP is still pretty normal. What do you see going forward?

12:00
Paul Sporer: BABIP is low bc 40% of hits are HRs. I expect big power, modest-to-bad AVG, and some sneaky SBs.

12:00
A. Reitz: Any chance Frances Martes is in the Astros rotation out of Spring 16?

12:01
Paul Sporer: I imagine you mean ’17. There’s a chance, but I wouldn’t bet on it

12:01
Patty: I can’t get enough of Michael Fulmer. Just say a few words about him for me, please.

12:02
Paul Sporer: He’s really impressive. I think it was peeking through even in his early starts when the results weren’t great. He’d have runs of 8-10 batters where he looked amazing, but then would run into some trouble. Just standard rookie stuff. Really clicked v. TB with the emergence of his change

12:02
Tim: Haven’t seen any of JUp’s recent games but the production has been much better of late. Assuming you’ve seen some recent Tiger games, is he looking better?

12:05
Paul Sporer: Yeah definitely looks better. The thing is, even early he’d have a great AB or two and then nine shitty ones. He’s still having shitty ones, but it’s more like 3-4 good, 2-3 shitty. Only 23% K this month, so a big improvement

12:05
James: Would you trade Kluber and Revere for Starling Marte and Jon Gray? 6×6 H2H with OPS and K/9

12:05
Paul Sporer: Man, it’s tough to trade for a Rockies arm. And i think Revere is heating up. I’d pass

12:05
The Man With The Plan: Where is Profar playing August 1st….2B, SS, 3B, AAA, not in Texas.

12:06
Paul Sporer: Not really sure on position, tbh, but I will say not in Texas. I think he’s raised his trade value enough to get moved for a big piece

12:06
Seabass: Paul, are you a Lude Dude too?

12:06
Paul Sporer: lol

12:06
Bart: Start Duffy vs the Tigers today?

12:06
Paul Sporer: Yeah. These skills are unreal

12:07
Brett Lawrie’s Empty Red Bull Ca: Paul! This may seem ludacris but hear me out. I’m in a league with 5 keeper spots from year to year and have 6 clear cut keepers (betts, cano, machado, sale, Thor, Degrom). I also have a few black holes in my lineup and am sitting in 4th, just out of the money. Should I look at trading syndergaard for a haul of 2-3 upgrades around the roster? I get weekly offers for him and I think he would fetch the biggest return in my league. Thanks !

12:07
Paul Sporer: Yes. You’re in 4th which means you’re very much in the hunt. Shore up your team and get that title

12:07
That One Guy: Can you run that Stanton Sano comp again?

12:08
Paul Sporer: Which comp is that? Is that something Eno did?

12:08
Dock Ellis: with all the hubbub of Ichiro lately, who’s the better player, not just who’s the hit King?

12:09
Paul Sporer: Oh Ichiro is better than Rose as a player. I kinda get Rose’s saltiness in theory, but who is honestly saying Ichiro’s the hit king now? People are acknowledging it bc it’s a neat thing, but I don’t see any ceremonies or anything. Ichiro is amazing, but he’s not the hit king. Japanese league just isn’t the same. It’d be akin to counting someone’s Triple-A numbers.

12:09
Tony: 14 team, OBP, 7 keepers: Traded my Fulmer for Mazara. Now I have an offer of my Colome for his Tanaka. SVHD league. Stream RP and get the starter? (Arrieta, Archer,Shoemaker, Mccullers,Gausman other SP)

12:10
Paul Sporer: Ya I’m much more willing to move closers in SVHD lgs

12:10
A. Reitz: Eno posted retweeted an interesting piece about improved stuff from last season. Kendall Graveman made several appearances. How is he so terrible? Chance for improvement?

12:11
Paul Sporer: Pitching is REALLY hard! Stuff alone doesn’t usually get it done long term. Doesn’t throw enough good strikes. Doesn’t miss enough bats. Elements are there, but needs more refining

12:11
Johnny Bench: Is Yan Gomes a significant upgrade at all to Chirinos at this point?

12:11
Paul Sporer: No, def not

12:12
Scott: Is it wrong to worry this Bryce Harper slump is more than a slump? If you remove first 19 games he’s hitting .210 with 4hrs and 14 rbis in 44 games. That’s a very small % of the season where he was actually good.

12:13
Paul Sporer: I get it. As I mentioned, I think the Maddon approach got him pressing. But we’re about 65 gms in. I bet a lot of guys would look p lame if you removed their best 30%

12:13
Kerry: Trayce Thompson a 10-team bat for you?

12:13
Paul Sporer: Depends who else is available, but I’m more of a believer than most so I’m trying to keep him on my team in any format

12:14
Eric: You punting on Hunter Pence for the rest of this year? Long recovery time plus power sapping injury…

12:15
Paul Sporer: Yeah, that’s fair. Super bummer bc one time ironman appears to be breaking down a bit w/a spate of injuries the last 2 yrs including the wrist HBP which obv wasn’t his fault. Life comes at you fast in your 30s as a ballplayer

12:15
Mork: Nanoo nanoo, friend!

12:15
Paul Sporer: Anyone still use an iPod nano? I remember winning one for like 4th place of an online poker tourney and I was so psyched! I keep it as a trophy. It was a pretty huge tourney at Stars

12:15
Tony: Sim league where the playoffs are based on September stats… Swap Rich Hill for Duffy plus a small upgrade elsewhere?

12:16
Paul Sporer: Ya if you get Duffy+, go for it. Hill still 36 and already on the DL

12:16
Jamie Sayer: Shane Greene will / should get another chance to start, right? I mean how much longer can Matt Boyd hold him off?

12:17
Paul Sporer: Or Mike Pelfrey… (I know he’s been non-awful results wise for about a month, but still). Anyway, I think Greene gets another shot. It’s been more health than skill behind any struggles. Even last yr is a bit of a pass for me once we learned he couldn’t feel his fingers. I’m still fully in on Greene, just waiting for the move back to SP

12:17
A. Reitz: Some of Martin Perez’ peripheals are nice, but that K rate is terrible and he looks like a 2 pitch SP. My question…at what point do you start working on another pitch?

12:20
Paul Sporer: He confounds me. I’m a big fan, espec. when I watch him pitch, but holy shit is a 1.3 K:BB so f’n awful! He’s actually got 2 breakers, but maybe he should just pick the slider or curve and focus on making it good. I still hold out hope for his skills to improve and backup a mid-3.00s ERA

12:20
Paul Sporer:

12:20
Marcell Ozuna: Am I good?

12:21
Paul Sporer: Very

12:21
Manta: You trotting out Nola vs. TOR in ROTO tonight?

12:21
Paul Sporer: Think ya gotta. I get the risk, but Nola has performed from jump street and I have a hard time taking out of my lineup v. anyone right now

12:21
Tony: What’s your order for best RoS ERA: Paxton, Duffy, Shoemaker?

12:22
Paul Sporer: They are the waiver SPs du jour, huh? I really struggle on an order for them. I think we did this same trio on the pod and I went Duffy, Shoe, Pax. Pax has just struggled so much with health.

12:22
Daniel: Do you think Wil Meyeres will go anywhere?

12:23
Paul Sporer: Well he’s a really good player and SD hates those types, so yeah.

12:23
Seth: seems like many contenders are looking for a corner OF in this trade season…has Jay Bruce played his market up to getting a top 100 prospect in return?

12:23
Paul Sporer: Yes, even as a rental

12:23
Josh: Better streaming option tomorrow in their head-to-head matchup: Zach Davies or Julio Urias?

12:24
Paul Sporer: I’m not really sure who they’re facing, but I’ll say Urias

12:24
Jim: KC really looks to need starting pitching. Do they go get one, trade for one, or stand pat. And, who is out there in their price range that may be worth it.

12:24
Paul Sporer: The SP trade market is pathetic. I think they go with what they’ve got and maybe try for some call-ups as opposed to trades.

12:24
Texas Dolly: If by some miracle Choo stays healthy, he’s more or less a full-time starter, yes? And if so, what can we expect from him ROS?

12:25
Paul Sporer: Ya if healthy, he’s playing. And if healthy, he’s gonna be solid. Use last yr as a guide

12:25
Mookie: Do we get this Eno fill-in chat PLUS your weekly RotoGraphs chat, too? YAY!

12:25
Paul Sporer: LOL, no. This is it.

12:25
Guest: Who da fuq are U

12:25
Paul Sporer: Says the anonymous Guest

12:25
Gtrope87: What do my Mets do now that the Captain is out for most, if not all, of this season? Would it make sense to go after a guy like Solarte?

12:26
Paul Sporer: It would, that’s an interesting name. I really like Solarte. Can’t play v good defense, but a solid player for sure and good hitter. I think they’ll be more in the Solarte arena as opposed to finding an Cespedes-level impact on the market

12:26
Jim: Omar Infante released by Royals. And, in related news, they signed Yunesky Betencourt !!

12:26
Paul Sporer: Wait, that’s a gag, right?

12:26
A. Reitz: I know Taijuan Walker has a great fastball, but if you watch a lot of his starts this year, that’s pretty much all he’s got. Is it unfair to say his lofty projections this year were a stretch without anything but average secondary stuff?

12:28
Paul Sporer: Ya I think that’s a stretch. His splitter is lit and the curve is good. Expectations may’ve been too lofty (I was among those super-high on him), but he’s still just 23. I still see a future star

12:28
hans kluber: trade puig and werth for yelich in my 13 team 5×5 obp roto? i’m fair to middling in steals runs and obp….i keep hoping for more with puig, but it’s just not gonna’ happen right?

12:29
Paul Sporer: I’m not ready to say it’s not gonna happen, but I’m OK w/this deal even w/Werth heating up

12:29
ShakeyourtooshyHasegawa: Hey Paul. 15 team league, 40 player roster: 5 minors, 35 majors. 2 catcher. I have Gomes and Plawecki/Rivera (with d’Arnaud on the DL – where he spends most of his time ammiright?). The last place team has started shopping and is looking to rebuild and I want their Matt Wieters and Wainwright. I am looking to use any of D. Peralta, T. Shaw, P. Tucker, Gleyber Torres, A.J. Reed, and Sean Manaea as trade chips.

12:30
Paul Sporer: I’d try to keep Peralta & Manaea, but the others should have something enticing enough to the other owner to get a deal done. I like going for that Wiets/Waino combo

12:30
Josh: Are you buying Steve Pearce in 12 team mixed leagues? Once Reddick comes back, I need to drop Pearce or Saunders, but Pearce has been so good…

12:30
Paul Sporer: I am and I don’t think I’d drop him. Saunders might make the decision for you w/his tweaked hammy.

12:30
Coach: You buying what Trevor Bauer has been able to do lately?

12:35
Paul Sporer: Cursory look doesn’t show any real skills growth (I assume we’re talking about the last 3-5 starts). Probably just a hot run.

12:35
Gordo: My offense has been great but my pitching has let me down. In a 13-team mixed league how confident should I be in recovering with a rotation of Sale, Quintana, Stroman, Odorizzi, Eickhoff, and Desclafani with relievers Betances, Ramos, and Dyson? I also have Wheeler, Boxberger, and Ottavino on the DL.

12:36
Paul Sporer: That’s not a bad rotation, but it needs work. Any of the hot pickups still there: Paxton, Duffy, Shoemaker? I’d scoop any of them. If not, stay on top of the wire for the next run of viable pickups. Jon Gray maybe as a road streamer?

12:36
Melvin: Braun or J-Up for you ROS?

12:36
Paul Sporer: Braun

12:36
b: 12 team keeper, keep in the round they were drafted. Is trying to sell Aaron Sanchez (22nd round) for Hosmer (12) or Piscotty (11) aiming too low? How about packaging Sanchez and Starling Marter (2). Trying to compete this year and worried about sanchez shifting to the bullpen

12:37
Paul Sporer: No, I’d be happy w/either bat for him. Really like Sanchez, but your concerns are merited re: IP limits

12:37
Lonely A’s Fan: I miss Rich Hill. When’s he coming back? Most likely destination if he gets traded?

12:37
Paul Sporer: A couple wks. I have no idea on trade destination just bc he’s the only viable arm on the market unless they also deal Gray so everyone is in play

12:38
Shawn: Which arm do you like best out of Paxton, Duffy, Snell, Shoemaker?

12:39
Paul Sporer: You put this in before the spate of questions regarding these four, so I’ll get to it. But we’re closing the book on this group going forward. I’d go Duffy if I’m only picking one

12:40
JalapEno: thanks as always for chatting with us paul!

12:40
Paul Sporer: No prob! I enjoy it

12:40
Josh: Hey, you’re not Eno???

12:40
Paul Sporer: What gave it away?

12:40
Crook: Whats wrong with aaron blair? still have faith he can develop? would flowers help any more than aj

12:41
Paul Sporer: Yes I still have hope, it’s only 9 starts. I thought he was more ready, but MLB is REALLY hard.

12:41
Justin: What are your thoughts on Profar for the rest of the season?

12:42
Paul Sporer: It’s all about health. But if he’s playing, I think he remains productive and an all-formats viable play

12:42
Jack: In 2017, Carlos Correa is a ____ round pick in a 12 team keeper league.

12:42
Paul Sporer: 2nd

12:42
Bron: I am projected to finish about 800ish points behind in a winner takes all ottoneu points league but am also reasonably secure in 2nd place. How would you approach such a situation?

12:43
Paul Sporer: Ooh that’s tough. I’d personally be looking for ways to bridge that gap and give myself a shot. Is it just a superpower tm or a bunch the hottest starts on their tm?

12:43
Pitcher wins is stoopid: I’ve had this idea about pitcher usage and wonder what you might think of it. What if teams used their “setup men” to setup the “starter” in innings one and two. Three different looks for your opponent to deal with by inning 3 and your “Starter” isn’t in his third trip through the order until the 7th or 8th and in gerneral pitch counts might end up being lower for the season with a 7 inning maximum outing for starters. “Closer” could come in in a high leverage situations in 8 and 9 just like they do now. What do you think? Any team have a good enough bullpen to try this?

12:43
Paul Sporer: Aw sweet, Brian Kenny is in our chat!

12:45
Paul Sporer: And I don’t say that disparagingly. He definitely beats this drum and it’s not an entirely unique idea. It’d take a lot to get a team on board. It’s probably one of those that’s better in theory than practice. Even the most logical gameplan won’t necessarily hold up in practice bc we’re still dealing with human beings and not just stat generating machines

12:45
Noel: Adam Eaton’s production is just so…boring. Still hanging on in 10-team mixed?

12:45
Paul Sporer: I hear ya, but unless there’s an option on the wire you just have to have, I’d hold

12:45
Chris R.: Piggybacking on Stanton, in a Roto OBP, would you trade Jay Bruce, Valencia or JUpton for him straight up?

12:46
Paul Sporer: Valencia for sure and probably even Bruce. I think the track record is worth buying low. This is like a legit buy-low so it has to be ugly to get the discount. But no one is going to be surprised if he has a 15 HR August or some shit

12:46
Nick: What do you think the rangers will do at/before trade deadline?

12:46
Paul Sporer: Hard to say exactly, but they will be active and prominently so, IMO

12:47
ryN: At this point who has been the winner of last yea’s Rox/Jays trade?

12:47
Paul Sporer: Toronto

12:47
jon: why did you take enos spot jerk! Lol Jk. HI

12:48
Paul Sporer: He said if he had to interact with “jon” even one more time, it’d be enough to make him go crazy. I get it now.

12:48
D: AL- Only Keeper: If Tanaka is my best pitcher and I’ve got guys like Happ, Miley, and now Shields rounding out my rotation, I should just pack it in and make some deals for next year, right? I’ve got good bullpen pieces but every start is like 5IP 5ER and killing everything.

12:49
Paul Sporer: Really depends what kinda movement you have possible in the standings. if you can still get the points to contend, then stay in it. but if you’re buried, move on

12:49
The Kid: Grandal – hurt, suffering from inconsistent ABs (even for or a catcher), or JUST a slump? What’s up with dude?

12:49
Paul Sporer: Always hurt and really impacts him. I really like his skillset at 100%, but he’s never at 100%. Kinda understand why he did PEDs. Not saying he shouldn’t have been punished when caught, but I get it

12:50
Davis: All this talk about the nats trading for chapman (or Miller) – granted those guys are great – but why not just bring up Lopez and Giolito to pitch out of the pen for the last month and hopefully the playoffs? Save the talent if the Yankees ask for a boatload.

12:50
Paul Sporer: I mean, this isn’t Playstation. You can’t just throw one of them in the pen and expect them to deliver high-leverage innings. Yes you gotta pay for one of those NYY RPs, but you also get something much better than what those rooks would do out of the pen.

12:50
Jimmy Sak: Am I getting off the Kluber train?

12:51
Paul Sporer: I don’t know, are you? I understand if you downgrade him to more of a really good as opposed to ace. But I have a hard time flat moving on

12:51
Shawn: Ignoring position, who would rather have ROS – K. Davis, Jake Lamb, or M. Holliday?

12:51
Paul Sporer: Lamb

12:51
Seabass: Paul, you gonna come to NYC and drinks beers with a couple of cool guys?

12:51
Paul Sporer: Comin to NYC, but I don’t drink these days

12:52
Zorak: Rolling with Jeffress, Dyson and Cishek but Harris is looking mighty fine on the waiver wire. Don’t really have room for a fourth reliever, can I just drop Cishek for Harris?

12:52
Paul Sporer: Ya, that’d be OK. I really like Harris

12:52
Duke: I want your opinion on a possible Mil-LAD trade. LAD get R.Braun + 25 mil and W.Smith while Mil gets R.Stripling, C. Anderson and K. Hernandez. Does this make sense for both teams?

12:54
Paul Sporer: That seems to check out. Nice for both

12:54
Gary Bertier: Taillon took down the Mets (twice really)…do you dare start him against the Cubs?

12:55
Paul Sporer: I think I’d sit him. Tough to start any non-aces v. CHC or BOS

12:55
The Kid: Gregory Polanco – stud. Are we gonna see some of those doubles turn into homers soon? Maybe as early as this year?

12:55
Paul Sporer: We already are, he’s matched his HR from last yr already

12:55
Le Grand Orange: Paul, lovin’ the podcast. Makes taking my dog out in 90 degree weather much more pleasurable. Thanks!

12:55
Paul Sporer: You’re welcome! Podcasts & dog walk is one of my favorite things to do almost every summer evening

12:56
mtsw: Kemp, ~half of Kemp’s remaining $, and Drew Pomeranz for Dylan Bundy, Pedro Alvarez and Ubaldo Jimenez’s contract. Who says no?

12:56
Paul Sporer: Probably SD

12:56
Regular Guy: Does Sonny Gray finish this season with the Athletics?

12:56
Paul Sporer: Yes

12:56
Zorak: Gattis or Martin ROS?

12:57
Paul Sporer: Gattis, even w/more Martin coming on

12:57
Ardy: Assuming Walker is healthy for Sunday, do you start him in Boston?!?!

12:57
Paul Sporer: No

12:57
Nas: Khris Davis is healthy and raking again. Back to being a 10-team bat?

12:57
Paul Sporer: Ya even if he’s not being started, that pop has to be on a tm

12:58
Josh: Is Gausman more than just a streamer in 12 team leagues considering his division?

12:59
Paul Sporer: Not right now. I’m a Gausman fan, but it’s just not happening on a level commensurate w/the raw stuff. Maybe I’m giving him a pass, but I can’t get beyond Baltimore’s inability to develop SPs

1:00
einstein2u: time to give up on eovaldi and gausman? both are killing him for the past month.

1:00
Paul Sporer: Depends on lg size, but yeah

1:00
steve: Out of Eickoff, Davies & Bauer who do you like going forward? Any worth owning outright in 10-teamers or are all streamers?

1:00
Paul Sporer: All streamers. I’d lean Eickhoff

1:00
Lakos: Heard Aaron Sanchez is going to the pen. So that means its probably unwise to trade for him in a redraft, right?

1:01
Paul Sporer: Yeah that’d be bad. That piece of news definitely blasted his trade value. I still think it’s at least a month from happening, but I get it

1:01
Joe Beef: Follow up on the Bregman question. How would Verlander be as a return?

1:01
Paul Sporer: Hot

1:01
Lakos: Concerned about Kluber? I thought he was ok then yesterday happened πŸ™

1:02
Paul Sporer: He’s just so hot-cold. It’s bc he’s the ace of Eno’s bad fastball rotation and of course fastball is the most important pitch so when it’s off, his secondary stuff can’t save him

1:02
Greg: Hey Paul, can only keep 2, M. Frank, J. Lamb, J. Heyward. 1 would be at 3B, the other my utility spot. Normal stats, but also includes Ks. Who should I drop?

1:02
Paul Sporer: Think it’d be Heyward

1:02
Matt: what do the nats do about the closer situation? can they get miller and force pap to the 8th?

1:03
Paul Sporer: yeah i think they make a move. Kelley for now, but they’re eyeing NYY for a better closer

1:03
Matt: What about some under-the-radar RP who should be closers… Oh in STL?

1:03
Paul Sporer: Oh for sure. Harris/Kelley were my go to answers on this until about a week ago. More here: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/category/bullpen-report/

1:04
Matt: Are we still underrating Danny Valencia? 22% HR/FB rate the past two seasons, stinging everything he hits.

1:04
Paul Sporer: I probably am. I’m just suspect of a 30-something all of a sudden learning to hit righties, but I’m coming around. All-formats play for sure, but I’m keeping a close eye.

1:04
Paul Sporer: And sadly, I can’t rule out a Collabelloian situation

1:04
Gorky: Maikel Franco suitable as my starting 3B in a 10-teamer or should I be seeking an uprade?

1:05
Paul Sporer: It’s good enough, IMO. He hasn’t been great, but his struggles are generally overstated. Still pacing toward 30/85. I’d buy on Franco rn

1:05
The Boss: ROS prediction on Jung Ho Kang

1:06
Paul Sporer: More studliness! He rules

1:06
Ritt Momney: When is Glasnow up?

1:06
Paul Sporer: Couple weeks maybe? I really don’t know

1:06
Bork: Is Estrada a dark horse Cy Young candidate?

1:11
Paul Sporer: yeah I wouldn’t rule that out. He’s been really good w/TOR (somehow)

1:11
Arbytrage: Last month I traded Keuchel for Gausman. How bad was that, in hindsight?

1:12
Paul Sporer: Not that bad. Not like Keuchel has turned around

1:12
The Kid: Odorizzi – seems afraid to throw a strike. I know he’s always had trouble getting deep into games, but figured he’d show more improvement this year, rather than regress. What do you expect going forward?

1:14
Paul Sporer: Ya I’m bummed by his seeming stagnation as I saw growth, too. Needs to be better earlier in counts

1:14
Julio Pepper: I’m baffled by the Rangers handling of Joey Gallo. He has an 1.100 OPS in AAA, has cut his k% in half, and is hitting home runs every other day, while Moreland, Rua, Hoying, and Fielder are seeing regular at-bats. What on earth are they waiting for?

1:16
Paul Sporer: Maybe it says something that the 173 PA might not be enough to find these changes entirely believable? Or maybe they don’t want him to ruin the illusion of these changes so his trade value stays high? Also speaks to their depth of talent that he isn’t immediately up and in the lineup as he’d be in many orgs

1:16
Reggie: Does Carrasco have his “stuff” back?

1:17
Paul Sporer: Yeah I’m not worried about him at all

1:17
KC: Time to move on from Hector Neris?

1:18
Paul Sporer: Ya, they might’ve run him into the ground a bit (I get it bc their pen sucks but still)

1:18
D: Zunino still worth a stash in AL only? Haven’t heard much recently.

1:18
Paul Sporer: I think the lack of a call up says what they think about his flashy AAA numbers.

1:19
Eldridge Cleaver: Happy Willson Contreras day

1:19
Paul Sporer: Haha thanks

1:19
Paul Sporer: I don’t have high expectations for Contreras, btw. I generally fade rookie Cs

1:19
Brad: What’s wrong with Drew Smyly? Is he a buy low option?

1:19
Paul Sporer: Probably injury. It’s ALWAYS injury!

1:19
D: Drop DeScalfani to pick up Duffy? Hard to wait this long but can’t help think Duffy’s the better option

1:19
Paul Sporer: Yes

1:19
Arbytrage: Kim or Grossman ROS?

1:20
Paul Sporer: Take a shot on Grossman. Better fantasy profile

1:20
D: Buchholz droppable in an AL only?

1:20
Paul Sporer: Ya

1:20
rustydude: I’m leery of holding onto long term prospects in my AL only league. For example, I drafted Trout in 2010, flipped him later that yr as I challenged for a championship, and then luckily traded back for him right before 2012 as I had a glut of closers. Luck, I know. I realize Benintendi is no Trout, but in an OBP league is he worth a flier even if he doesn’t play til 2017?

1:20
Paul Sporer: Ya I’d invest. He’s a high profile guy and could be up this year, even if it’s for another org as a major trade chip for BOS

1:21
Nathan: Is AJ Reed actually going to be good when(if?) he gets called up in the next couple of weeks? He hasn’t been real impressive in AAA and it seems like they may just go with Singleton.

1:21
Paul Sporer: Maybe! Again, the team kinda tells us about these things. If he was this can’t-miss superstud (or at least if they THOUGHT he was), he’d be up already. Doesn’t mean he CAN’T be, but expecting it is foolhardy

1:22
Michael: Thoughts on Sonny Gray? In his last couple of starts since coming off the DL he has looked better but had one bad inning last night. Has he figured it out or does he still have a ways to go?

1:23
Paul Sporer: Ya really tough to have that blowup inning and ruin last night, but he’s undoubtedly looked a lot better. 3 best velo games since returning, too

1:23
G: What do you expect out of Cody Reed when he gets the inevitable call-up to Cincy?

1:23
Paul Sporer: Inconsistency. Some good, probably more bad. He’ll take time, but i like him long term

1:23
unky: Curious to see why you have Eo above Gausman. Gausman’s gotten much better swstk on his splitter this year

1:25
Paul Sporer: Don’t really have em far apart. Neither particularly useful in fantasy rn

1:25
Oliver: Buy low on Archer or avoid?

1:25
Paul Sporer: I’ve been avoiding for this yr

1:26
Aaron: David Ortiz has driven himself in more than his teammates have (16 HR, 30 R scored). How is this even possible for a guy running a .422 obp with 28 doubles? Is this an indictment on the production of 5-9 part or the order or could the Sox really benefit most from manipulating the order of the lineup?

1:26
Paul Sporer: Seems more like a fluke but could also be his lack of speed. Maybe he gets stuck on third when most score an inordinate # of times? really dont’ know

1:26
Bourque: Bonjour Paul!

1:26
Paul Sporer: Yooo

1:26
bugs: Snell or Sanchez ROS?

1:27
Paul Sporer: Sanchez’s impending move to the pen makes it closer, but I lean him still

1:27
Sizors: ??

1:28
PL: I’m intrigued by Oakland’s recent callup Daniel Mengden. Could he be valuable ROS? Too early to tell?

1:28
Paul Sporer: Definitely too early, but we aren’t afforded a lot of time these days. Eno gave him a nice endorsement on the pod. I’d take a gamble in some deeper formats

1:28
Seth: can i survive with a rotation of stras, harvey, teheran, chen, corbin, dickey, santiago/bolsinger in a 16 teamer? consider dealing stras for 2-3 next tier pitchers?

1:28
Paul Sporer: Don’t trade, just work on upgrading that backend via the wire by churning some streamers

1:29
Kerry: I’m the guy that just traded Arenado for Kershaw and Braun. What do you think of me?

1:29
Paul Sporer: Woo!

1:29
OK: Thoughts on prospecting the Nats’ pen? Dusty didn’t sound that jazzed on the idea of making Kelley closer. Does Papelbon retake the job soon? When do they make a big trade?

1:29
Paul Sporer: I fully feel trade for them

1:29
Oliver: Willson Contreras getting the call. Thoughts on his playing time? Enough to be worth while in 1 C leagues?

1:29
Paul Sporer: Probably scant w/3 Cs. Probably not bothering in 1 C 10-12 tm’ers

1:30
Chris: Rank these two struggling outfielders in a dynasty league: Puig and Heyward

1:30
Paul Sporer: Ugh, two guys I’ve really liked in the past, but frustrated w/both. I’ll still lean Puig. If the hammy gets right, still like his upside

1:31
Patrick : Is Brantley done for the year? Do we see Frazier and/or Zimmer this year?

1:31
Paul Sporer: i don’t think he’s done for the year, but one of them could get the call eventually bc their OF sucks.

1:32
John C.: Paul thoughts on Robbie Grossman? 14tm H2H would you prefer him or Granderson ROS? I’ve been holding Grandy bc of trackrecord and assumed higher floor.

1:33
Paul Sporer: Still Curtis, but Grossman has made some changes that Eno buys and gave him a nice endorsement

1:33
Bill: Conforto still worth holding in 10-team? Because yuck.

1:33
Paul Sporer: with injury being a contributing factor and PT cut v. lefties, I’d be open to a new OF in 10-teamer

1:33
JD: Which Cub is more likely to get traded: Kyle Schwarber or Willson Contreras?

1:33
Paul Sporer: This July? Contreras

1:34
CamdenWarehouse: Is David Wright’s career over?

1:34
Paul Sporer: Might be πŸ™

1:34
Davy: Do you think Giolito will play any role for the Nationals this season? They could certainly use a bullpen arm for the stretch run.

1:34
Paul Sporer: Not sure they wanna do that. I can still see a call-up if the rotation loses some guys. But he’s not emerging as quickly as expected.

1:35
Jake from State Farm: Is it possible we see Tyler O’Neill this year? he is just murdering the ball in AA

1:35
Paul Sporer: I legitimately don’t know that guy. My bandwidth gets sketch around AA and focuses more on pitchers

1:35
rustydude: Is Fielder showing he still has some gas in the tank or is the last 10 days a mirage?

1:37
Paul Sporer: I think there could be a little in the tank. I’ve suggested he’s gotta be hurt to be this bad, but maybe he’s still getting bad sleep. He has sleep apnea. Napoli was diagnosed w/it last yr and I thought it’d be his fix and send him back upward. Well he didn’t show anything until late last year bc he still struggled w/the apnea as he got used to the CPAP machine. Just bc Fielder is diagnosed doesn’t mean he’s cured. In short, I’m OK with those who’ve moved on, but I could see some improvements in the 2nd half if Fielder is in fact NOT hurt again w/the neck

1:37
D: Is James Shields no longer good at baseball?

1:38
Paul Sporer: He needs to make some adjustments, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s done. It takes guys some time to transition when they start losing their stuff

1:38
Brad: Drew Smyly, burning garbage fire or buy low opportunity?

1:38
Paul Sporer: More the former just bc injury is usually behind any struggles

1:38
JD: How confident should I be in Smyly’s start last night? He’s been so volatile.

1:39
Paul Sporer: Last Smyly Q. The talent is obvious and robust, as his inability to stay healthy. Some of that is due to his mechanics which Doug Thorburn has long hated. I have a hard time fully trusting him in shallow lgs

1:39
Andy: 12 tm 5×5 roto. Desperately need SB. Dee Gordon is available, but the catch is there is no bench. Eligible to come back July 28. When would you pick him up, knowing you take zeros while he is in the lineup. Thanks!

1:40
Paul Sporer: Earliest I could do that is ASB and that’s still 2 weeks of 0s

1:40
Nickels : do you believe in the Wil Myers breakout?

1:40
Paul Sporer: Yes, I was a big fan this year. One of my decent calls so far. But it’s never really been skill. Health has always been the issue. We just passed his games played total from last year. Can he hold up?

1:40
Adam: I left two crayons in the car. they melted. It’s hot in Barcelona!

1:41
Paul Sporer: Why’d you have crayons in your car? It’s hot everywhere right now!

1:41
KG: Does last night’s game signal better things ahead for Hanley Ramirez? His BB/K numbers have been trending up while his overall numbers have been trending down.

1:42
Paul Sporer: One game isn’t enough to signal seismic changes usually, but I do think he’s going to be good throughout the summer (given health, obv). He was toting a .800s OPS in late-May so it’s not like he’s been a garbage bag all year

1:42
Chris: Better ROS: Cutch or Stanton?

1:44
Paul Sporer: Yeesh. I’ll say Stanton

1:44
PSC: Drop Will Smith for Kelley for short-term gain, even if Smith is potentially the closer for longer in Mil? Dynasty league and I’m not really hurting for saves/

1:45
Paul Sporer: If you’re not hurting for saves and believe Smith is the long-term option, sit tight. I could see Smith being moved and setting up in a better pen, but I share the opinion of Kelley’s short-termness since they’re likely to trade for a closer or go right back to Pap

1:45
ShakeyourtooshyHasegawa: Reliever performance is more volatle season to season, but why does Fernando Rodney seem to operate on the furthest ends of the spectrum

1:45
Paul Sporer: Bc he has filthy stuff that is hard to command.

1:46
Pomeranz: would Dilson Herrera at 2B and Walker at 3B be an upgrade for the NYM?

1:46
Paul Sporer: Probably not

1:46
Watty: Is there currently any major leaguer with a better name than Arquimedes Caminero?

1:46
Paul Sporer: That’s a really strong candidate. Who else y’all got in this realm?

1:46
Bork: Eno was last seen entering a van with FREE IPA INSIDE written on the side. He hasn’t been seen since.

1:47
Paul Sporer: I heard he was bro’ing out with Byrnes in the MLB Studios and they were both seen tackling Mark DeRosa on the red couch from MLB Centrla

1:47
Paul Sporer: Central*… dammit

1:47
Merv Throneberry: Manuel Margot…next SD breakout player?

1:48
Paul Sporer: He’s been solid at AAA! I could see him doing some things, but where’s he gonna play rn? If jon Jay is dealt, scoop Margot immediately

1:48
Rob: Who would you trade Betts away for in a 12 team dynasty league? My list: Rizzo, Altuve, Arenado, Machado, Trout, Harper, Kersh. Am I missing anyone?

1:48
Paul Sporer: I’d need time to make a list I’m committed to, but I like yours. You’re saying that’s who you’d deal him for, right? It’s definitely a short list

1:49
Belting: It seems to me that speculation around the trade deadline is of a much lower quality (?) than the chatter around free agency. Am I right? If so, any particular reason?

1:49
Paul Sporer: Just depends on the class of players for each so both vary season to season

1:50
Paul Sporer: This year’s trade crop is dogshit so the rumors won’t be as fierce. Coincidentally, this year’s FA pool is also busted. But also, another reason is that the season is going on during the trade deadline so games on the field are always going to matter more. Free agency is the only game in town when it’s going on

1:50
Crunchy Black: 19 homers for Duvall now… what does a full season look like for him?

1:50
Paul Sporer: 35

1:50
JalapEno: best double IPA in new york?? OH NO WHERES ENO

1:50
Paul Sporer: LOL

1:50
Paul Sporer: wtf is a double IPA

1:50
Paul Sporer: been outta the beer game for a minute

1:50
Chicago Mark: I have to say this Paul. I asked Eno a fantasy question on a FanGraphs article a while back and got a bunch of negative hits. Now here you are on the FanGraphs side getting a bunch of fantasy questions. Are the minions just unfair?

1:51
Paul Sporer: Maybe it’s just bc you asked a specific fantasy question in the comments of a piece so it was out of place? this is a much better venue for something like that

1:51
Oh you Darvish: I dropped Conforto for Matt Holliday in a 10-team redraft OPS league. He’ll bounce back at some point but I don’t trust the wrist. Did I do OK?

1:51
Paul Sporer: Ya you did. Sucks bc I love Conforto, but I’m OK moving on in 10 teamers

1:51
rustydude: For AL only leagues, if Braun gets traded to the AL, can we expect Ian Desmond like production?

1:51
Paul Sporer: You should expect Ryan Braun-like production!

1:51
Joe: Thoughts on Justin Upton in dynasty leagues? Still a 100/30/100/15/.350 OBP-guy?

1:52
Paul Sporer: I mean, not this year. But he’s still a good OF and I expect a hot streak soon. He’s striking the ball better of late and not missing nearly as m uch

1:53
Eric: 5×5 ottoneu league. Trade $21 Kluber for $40 Bumgarner and $10 Cody Allen?

1:53
Paul Sporer: Do it

1:53
Martin: Think Sal Perez makes it to 30 homers?

1:53
Paul Sporer: No, but sets a new high (currently 21)

1:53
Oh you Darvish: Are Adam Eaton/Shin-soo Choo must-owns in 10-team redraft OPB leagues?

1:54
Paul Sporer: ya I make room for them in OBP lgs

1:54
Gary: Starting Colby Lewis @ OAK today?

1:54
Paul Sporer: If not now, when? So yeah, if he’s on your radar then this is about as good as a matchup will get

1:54
Greg: All in on Duffy? Top 25 SP ROS?

1:55
Paul Sporer: I’m definitely in, but top 25 is too much.

1:55
Paul Sporer: Top 50

1:55
Paul Sporer: And that’s still pretty aggressive, but I can dig top 50

1:55
Gavin: Do I drop my speculative Dozier for a speculative Merrifield in my 12 team OBP? Rendon and Seager are my real 2B and 3B..

1:56
Paul Sporer: No, Dozier just starting to get loose

1:56
Do It: Who has more trade value right now for the Cubs: Jorge Soler or Albert Almora Jr.?

1:56
Paul Sporer: Still Soler I think

1:56
Josh: Has your opinion of Bryce Harper changed at all over the last two months? Where would you rank him overall for the rest of this season only?

1:57
Paul Sporer: Still top 5. I think he needs to adjust to this new Bonds-esque treatment. It has fucked w/him a bit for sure, but I still believe he’s a super-elite talent. I can’t really go lower than top-5 even w/other guys having obviously better numbers so far

1:57
Funkhouser: Am I insane to trade 4 more years of Arrieta in a dynasty league to try to make a run this year?

1:57
Paul Sporer: Not at all

1:58
Nate: Is J Roll a HOF in your book?

1:58
Paul Sporer: Not at all

1:58
God: Good Lord, Duvall has homered again…

1:58
Paul Sporer: So lit

1:59
Jung-Ho Kang’s Knowing Stare: Damn, Paul, where’s Eno? I love you, but I had great beer stories to tell.

1:59
Paul Sporer: He asked me to switch so he didn’t have to hear the stories. Dick move, but I don’t blame him, ya know?

1:59
Oliver: Which side you like in a 5×5 OBP league. A) Freeman, JRoss, Shaw or B) Archer, Saunders, Paxton?

2:00
Paul Sporer: Side A. Little too much risk in B

2:00
Will: ROS in an OBP/SLG league ; D. Peralta or Valencia, Tulo or Semien

2:00
Paul Sporer: Peralta/Tulo

2:01
El Guapo: What are the Tigers doing w/ Daniel Norris?

2:01
Paul Sporer: Waiting for him to show he deserves to be up and can help them

2:02
JamesXanderBeek: After your BABIP piece I sold “high” on Xander, trading him for Strasburg and Matt Bush in a league where it’s impossible to get any top 60 starters off the wire. Then he went 10/15 over the weekend… It’s going to be ok, right?

2:02
Paul Sporer: What BABIP piece? Something Eno wrote?

2:02
A Different Matt: Jon Gray is a top __ pitcher ROS.

2:03
Paul Sporer: 80

2:03
Existential Fan: on a scale of 1-10, how likely are you to see danny duffy in your nightmares tonight?

2:03
Paul Sporer: 6, unfortunately, lol… but it would’ve been 9 a couple months ago

2:03
Paul Sporer: OK, y’all, just a few more

2:04
Paul Sporer: Can’t go marathon today

2:04
Paul Sporer: Gotta eat before Eno comes on MLB Now

2:06
Don Draper: Hi Paul! Got a trade – my villar for his Carrasco…is this fair or could I get more?

2:06
Paul Sporer: Very fair. I’d do it

2:06
Snarfle: Do you have any insight on what Conforto’s injury means for him ROS?

2:07
Paul Sporer: It’s sapping his effectiveness and could linger all year

2:07
Adam: What did you do with Eno?

2:07
Paul Sporer: Protected him from having to deal with you today! He’s very grateful πŸ™‚

2:07
ScoKo: ” I get it. As I mentioned, I think the Maddon approach got him pressing. But we’re about 65 gms in. I bet a lot of guys would look p lame if you removed their best 30%” … He was 4/30 going into the series with Chicago. respectfully don’t think Cubs strategy had anything to do with it since he was ice cold prior. Considering how much of his stats he got in his first 19 games I cant believe most seasons form top players would like remotely s bad as Harpers with top 30% removed.

2:07
Paul Sporer: Respectfully, 30 AB isn’t a reasonable sample to make much of

2:12
Paul Sporer: His walk rate is at 25% starting w/that CHC series. It was 15% before. Completely different approach to Harper by the opposition and I think he’s pressing as a result. Trout has a .228 AVG w/7 HR if you remove his best 19-gm streak. Harper is .212/4 HR

2:12
Zorak: Would the rangers be interested in a Profar for Wheeler+ deal? How good would the + have to be to make it work?

2:12
Paul Sporer: I think they can get more. Wheeler unlikely to be that impactful this year

2:12
MJ: Andrelton had a nice return last night (2/3 with a walk). Are you a believer that there’s more to his bat than he’s shown in terms of BA/power growth? Or is this who he is at this point?

2:13
Paul Sporer: I have believed that and still do. i think he can be Brandon Crawford-esque in that he comes on in his late-20s (though not necessarily as a power threat like Craw, so that’s where the analogy stops)

2:13
Jerry Seinfeld: What’s the deal with Christian Friedrich? Worth picking up?

2:13
Paul Sporer: Still way too many BB. Somewhat intriguing for NL only though

2:14
Gavin: Just snagged Sano off of WW for Park. Will he turn it on at all this year? Is he even an upgrade to Park?

2:14
Paul Sporer: He’s gotta get healthy first, right? Small upgrade over Park rn

2:14
It Billy Burns When I Pee: Ben Revere. He doesn’t throw well. He doesn’t hit for much power. But he’s stealing again! Think Ben Revere is back?

2:14
Paul Sporer: ya I think he’s about to go on a run … pun intended, I guess

2:14
bill: Derek Norris or Yasmani Grandal ROS?

2:15
Paul Sporer: Ugh. really a coin toss. I’ll say Grandal

2:15
Manny: Regarding Nola vs. Toronto, not worried about his HR tendencies flaring up against suddenly hot E5, Donaldson, Pillar, et al?

2:15
Paul Sporer: Of course I am. I don’t only start guys when there are no worries, though. LOL at including Pillar w/those 2 btw

2:15
SammyD’s: Still waiting on Socrates Brito v. Arquimedes Caminero

2:15
Paul Sporer: Ooh ya Brito!

2:16
Seth: another ugly catcher ros comparison: gomes or d’arnaud

2:16
Paul Sporer: :shoot self:

2:16
Paul Sporer: Gomes I guess

2:16
Paul Sporer: C sucks so hard this year

2:16
Oleg: I want the Cubs to get Miller AND Beltran. No question, just sayin’.

2:16
MS: Is it time to give up on Shields?

2:16
Paul Sporer: In most leagues it is for now. He needs to adjust and there’s no reason to let him try and do that on your roster while brutalizing your ratios

2:17
whosays: Are we looking at possibly the first 11 WAR pitching season with Kershaw since Pedro in ’99?

2:17
Paul Sporer: Maybe?

2:18
whosays: None of my questions answered πŸ™

2:18
Paul Sporer: I have SO many still in queue. I only looked for yours bc you mentioned it and they’re not THAT good of questions πŸ™‚

2:18
whosays: Newish to fantasy sports…wth is a redraft league

2:18
Paul Sporer: Non-keeper. You draft fresh every year

2:18
Bob: Where would you rank Mazara in a keeper league?

2:18
Paul Sporer: top 150

2:19
Ben: if I now own Harris, Colome, Kelley, and Dyson do you think I can safely Drop Madson?

2:19
Paul Sporer: Yeah, that works

2:19
Guy: Currently watching Paxton: His velo is sitting about 96-98 and location is super spotty. I feel like he is SUPER overvalued right now, time to sell?

2:19
Paul Sporer: Probably so. He is definitely in the hype machine. Tons of talent and sexy velo emerging in June when wires are super thin will do that though

2:20
Ben: I love and really appreciate your regular long chats!! Thanks πŸ™‚

2:20
Paul Sporer: Thanks so much!

2:20
Picayune: Dae Ho Lee. What do you see in the crystal ball?

2:20
Paul Sporer: Maybe some all-formats viability if he gets more PT

2:21
OK: O’Brien in AZ for NL-only? Looking more like urine in a bottle than lightning right now.

2:21
Paul Sporer: LOL

2:21
Paul Sporer: It’s been 15 PA

2:21
Paul Sporer: And spotty PA at that

2:21
Paul Sporer: Give him SOME time

2:21
Ben: When will Buxton be at his buy-lowest?

2:21
Paul Sporer: Already has been

2:22
Nate: will d Gordon be worth snagging when he comes back?

2:22
Paul Sporer: Definitely

2:22
mookie dookie: kluber or salazar ros?

2:22
Paul Sporer: I think it’s Salazar

2:22
whosays: Haha. Sorry also just bored at work….thanks though! thanks for staying on this long!

2:22
Paul Sporer: Just teasing!

2:22
whosays: How do I get lucky and win this lottery of getting my questions answered

2:22
Jerry Sands’ Smile: how long is your question list? My buddy Ben asked some great questions but they never made the cut.

2:22
Paul Sporer: It’s a couple hundred deep

2:22
Paul Sporer: it’s daunting bc I’m behind the INSTANT the chat starts

2:23
Paul Sporer: Guess I’m TOO popular :sunglasses emoji:

2:23
Pie: You thought you could change your pre-pod ad on us like that? You scared me man

2:23
Paul Sporer: Got emmmm!!!

2:23
The Dream: Happy 45th birthday Tupac

2:23
Paul Sporer: Pac!

2:23
Cony Tampana: I would kind of enjoy it if Miami had to pay the post opt-out on an unproductive Stanton. They seem to deserve that fate

2:23
Paul Sporer: LOL right?

2:23
Paul Sporer: but he’s not done

2:24
Gtrope87: Going back to my Solarte question; who do you think the Mets give up for him if they go that route?

2:24
Paul Sporer: Honestly no clue. I’m not good at figuring trades bc I only know top prospects so I can’t come up with the package of B/C prospects that would likely be dealt for someone like Solarte

2:24
Friend: How long until we declare Xander Bogaerts the greatest shortstop of all time?

2:25
Crusty Juggler: Your hair is more impressive than Eno’s. There, I said it.

2:25
Paul Sporer: Oh snap!

2:25
Minty: What do you make of AJ Reed allegedly “getting closer” to a call up?

2:25
Paul Sporer: Been hearin that one for a while, huh?

2:25
Matt Damon: MATT. DAMON.

2:25
Nathan: Victor Martinez for Carrasco fair in a redraft ops, whip, qs, k/9 league?

2:26
Paul Sporer: Prefer CC just bc of Vmart’s injury risk and age, but he’s back to being a stud. Not quite 2014 for VMart, but not far off

2:31
Paul Sporer: OK y’all, that’s gonna wrap it up. Gotta eat before Eno start on MLB Now

2:31
Paul Sporer: Thanks for hanging out

2:31
Jerry Sands’ Smile:

2:31
Jerry Sands’ Smile:

2:31
Jerry Sands’ Smile:

2:32
Paul Sporer: Have fun seeing that in your nightmares.

2:32
Paul Sporer: Byeeeeeeeeeee
