Hit(less) King
Chris Davis set the all-time consecutive hit streak by going 0-for-5 against Marco Estrada and the A’s Davis passed Eugenio Velez’s previous record of 46 straight at bats without a hit and now stands at 49 consecutive outs. Davis hit the ball hard a number of times, but they all found gloves. This isn’t fantasy relevant, but more just a reminder that being a part of history is not always a good thing.

 

Various News and Notes
Hyun-Jin Ryu left Monday’s game after injuring his groin. Ryu will be placed on the Injured List after being diagnosed with a groin strain according to manager Dave Roberts. Ryu had been fantastic this season, but his loss means that Ross Stripling and Julio Urias are safely in the rotation for the time being.

Clay Buchholz is expected to be activated from the 10-Day IL in order to make his 2019 debut for the Toronto Blue Jays. Buchholz had his 2018 season cut short, but he was great until injuring his flexor tendon, throwing 98.1 innings with a 2.01 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. He will slide into the Jays rotation this weekend.

According to manager Bud Black, David Dahl may avoid the IL after suffering a core injury on Sunday. The injury appears to have looked worse than it actually is and the oft-injured outfielder will likely not miss much time.

According to Jake Kaplan of The Athletic, Brad Peacock will be moved into the bullpen for the next two weeks. The Astros are not in need of a fifth starter for the time being, so Peacock will work out of the pen until he is needed again on April 23rd.

Luis Severino suffered a setback in his rehab from a shoulder injury. Severino was had a long toss session and apparently something didn’t feel right and he will now undergo an additional MRI in order to see if there is any further damage to his injured rotator cuff. This sounds bad, but fantasy owners should wait for more news until they react.

Luis Urias was recalled from AAA. Urias will take the spot of Franchy Cordero who was placed on the 10-Day IL. Urias will likely split time with Ian Kinsler at second base for the time being. Urias is a former top prospect for the Padres that has been leapfrogged in the organization by Fernando Tatis Jr., but if he can hit while up, there is no reason to think he can’t leapfrog Kinsler.

High Risk Option: Derek Holland vs SD
Holland’s start to the season hasn’t been great and the Padres are hitting lefties, but Holland has upside and he is at home.

Pitcher for Tomorrow: Frankie Montas @ BAL
Montas has been impressive in his first few starts of the season and faces a bad Orioles team led by hitless Chris Davis.

High Risk Option: Nick Margevicius @ SF
Hard to believe he can keep up what he has done thus far, but he gets to face the Giants in San Francisco, so he is worth the gamble.
