Return of the Dodgers

Both Logan Forsythe and Justin Turner have been activated from the DL by the Dodgers. This is big news for the Dodgers who lost Corey Seager, but have now gotten back the rest of their offense. It will be interesting to see how both look from a power standpoint considering they are wrist/shoulder issues.

CaNoooooooooo!!!

Robinson Cano has been suspended for 80 games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. He tested positive for the drug furosemide which is commonly used to treat liver failure, kidney failure and blood pressure. That being said, it could very well have been used to help flush a player’s system while attempting to beat a drug test. Cano was also placed on the DL with a finger injury that will likely require surgery, which may have influenced his decision to drop his appeal since he will be able to serve the suspension while still injured. According to general manager Jerry Dipoto, Dee Gordon will start doing infield work for a potential move back to second base.

Various News and Notes

Clint Frazier has been called up by the New York Yankees. Frazier is one of the top prospects in the Yankees farm system as well of all of baseball, but he isn’t likely to figure into full-time playing in the Yankees outfield considering all the pieces are healthy (outside of Jacoby Ellsbury, who is never healthy.) He is only really viable for keeper and dynasty leagues.

According to Chelsea James, Adam Eaton has an updated timetable and expects to return in six weeks. Eaton had surgery on his ankle and was transferred to the 60-Day DL last week. While having a timetable is good, we have seen that it doesn’t guarantee anything in terms of his long term health and prognosis.

Bradley Zimmer was placed on the 10-Day DL with a rib injury. Zimmer crashed hard into a wall last week and was only able to play once since. This doesn’t appear to a very serious injury as there was talk that he may not end up on the DL at all.

A.J Pollock was placed on the 10-Day DL and will miss 1-2 months after fracturing his thumb in a dive for a flyball on Monday. This is disappointing news for fantasy owners who were getting fantastic production from Pollock, but at the end of the day no one is too shocked this happened to him as he has a long history of injury issues.

Matt Duffy left Tuesday’s game with a hamstring injury. According to the Rays, this was largely precautionary, but considering Duffy’s recent health woes, it is something to monitor.

Yu Darvish was pulled from his start on Tuesday. He was actually pitching fairly well, but reportedly was dealing with leg cramps and considering he just returned from the DL with an illness, the Cubs played it safe. Consider him day-to-day at the moment.

Nelson Cruz was forced out of Tuesday’s game after being hit on the foot with a pitch. Cruz was in obvious pain, but x-rays came back negative following the game and he appears to have escaped major injury. Consider him day-to-day.

Streaming Pitchers Options

A pitcher for today: None

Hail Mary Play (by popular demand): Andrew Suarez who gets a Matt Harvey led Reds squad at home.

A pitcher for tomorrow: Matthew Boyd vs SEA

He gets a Cano-less and possibly Cruz-less Mariners squad at home, so it’s a decent gamble.
