Opening Day

Aaron Gleeman, the original Grand Poobah of the Hardball Times, likes to celebrate Opening Day with a quote. In the spirit of tradition, here it is. Happy Baseball.

Little darling, it’s been a long, long lonely winter
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say, it’s all right

Little darling, the smiles are returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since they’ve been there
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say, it’s all right

Little darling, mmmmmm, I see the ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been clear
There goes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say, it’s all right

— Here Comes the Sun

Dave Studeman was called a "national treasure" by Rob Neyer. Seriously. Follow his sporadic tweets @dastudes.

Who knew George Harrison was a baseball fan?

Actually, Harrison was a big Formula One racing fan. He wrote a song about it called “The Master of Going Faster.” How about a few choruses of “Take Me Out To the Ballgame” or “Centerfield” by John Fogerty?
