Beltre doesn’t strike out particularly often. For his career, he’s struck out 95 times per 600 PA. The 2009 Red Sox struck out 106 times per 600 PA.

@Bill: Thanks for the note; I took his career strikeout average, compared it against his Mariners numbers and rounded (that’s where the “about” part comes in). You know what they say about statistics—your mileage may vary. Still, seems high for a guy making 10mil a year. I know I could strikeout just as much for half the $$$.

Actually a higher-than-average $/strikeout ratio is probably a good thing…it would imply low strikeouts and high bucks!
