Profile: After returning to form last year, Maybin quietly one-upped himself with arguably his best season ever. In fact, he generated almost as much WAR in two-thirds of 2016 as he did the previous four seasons combined, thanks in large part to hitting .315 because of an unsustainable .383 batting average on balls in play (BABIP). There's merit to his gains, though: he not only continued to hit more line drives and ground balls, thereby catering to his speed, but also limited his pop-ups and sprayed the ball more efficaciously than ever. He's not an elite hitter, but he's smartly hitting to his strengths. Should he sustain his gains, he'd be a virtual lock to beat the .311 BABIP that Steamer projects for him. There once were rumblings of a platoon in left field in Los Angeles of Anaheim — with whom, who knows, but that's beside the point — but Maybin's nearly equal splits the last two years and generally improved approach support the Angels' tentative decision to start him full-time. He may never hit double-digit home runs again, but a 25-steal pace with a .275 batting average will get the job done in sort of the same vein as Ender Inciarte. Maybin is more of a deep-league outfielder but could threaten standard mixed-league value if the stars aligned. (Alex Chamberlain)

The Quick Opinion: Maybin's injury-shortened 2016 season arguably would have been his best ever. He's hitting better than ever and has generally eradicated his platoon splits. A seven-homer, 20-steal, .275 season is well within reach, and it could come relatively cheap.
