News: Hoffman signed a one-year deal worth $8 million to return to the Brewers in 2010, ESPN's Buster Olney reports.

Analysis: He was very impressive in his first season with Milwaukee, converting 37-of-41 save opportunities and finishing with a 48:14 K:BB ratio in 54 innings while allowing just 35 hits in 2009. It remains to be seen how the Brewers intend to re-shape their stable of arms in front of him both in the rotation and in other bullpen spots this winter.

News: Hoffman's string of 18 straight scoreless innings came to an end Sunday in a loss to the White Sox.

Analysis: A.J. Pierzynski broke a 4-4 tie with a two-out single that scored Clayton Richard. It was the first run Hoffman allowed all year. Still, a 0.47 ERA isn't too shabby.
