News: Garcia agreed to a minor league contract with the White Sox on Monday, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis: Garcia returns to Chicago, where he pitched for the Sox from 2004-2006. He'll go to Arizona to get back into pitching shape, but his arm strength needs to be better than it was earlier this season when he was with the Mets if he is to have any chance at making an impact for Chicago.

News: Garcia accepted the Mets' assignment to the minors Tuesday, the NY Times reports.

Analysis: Garcia lost out in his bid to be the team's fifth starter to Livan Hernandez. He was under no obligation to accept the demotion and had said he would opt out of his contract if he weren't in the majors, but changed his mind after speaking with GM Omar Minaya.
