News: Meche, who has shoulder inflammation, is unlikely to pitch again for the rest of the season, the Kansas City Star reports. "I guess it's possible, but it's doubtful," manager Trey Hillman said of Meche's chances of pitching down the stretch.

Analysis: Meche, who last pitched Aug. 29, is 6-10 with a 5.09 ERA in 129 innings over 23 starts, so there's not a ton of upside to stashing him unless you are in a very deep league.

News: Meche (back) is tentatively scheduled to start Thursday against the Twins, the Royals' official site reports.

Analysis: Manager Trey Hillman received positive reports from scouts regarding Meche's last rehab appearance, where Meche's fastball hit 92 mph. His return to the rotation will likely bump Bruce Chen to the bullpen.
