News: The Yankees added Hinske to their World Series roster, the Journal News reports.
Analysis: Hinske gives New York an additional pinch-hitting option off the bench, which will come in handy when the series shifts to Philadelphia (and the Yankees lose the DH) for Games 3, 4 and 5. He'll be playing in his third consecutive World Series (2007 with Boston and 2008 with Tampa Bay).

News: The Yankees acquired Hinske from Pittsburgh for two minor leaguers on Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: After saying that there was no need to make a deal to bolster their outfield depth with Xavier Nady likely out for the season, general manager Brian Cashman pulled the trigger for a veteran left-handed bat in Hinske. His value will be confined mostly to AL-only leagues, as regular at-bats don't figure to be part of the plan for him barring another injury or two in the Yankees' outfield.
