News: Hudson has agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract with Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: He'll take over second base for the Twins, pushing Nick Punto to a utility role or Punto will battle for the third base job. Hudson gives the Twins an immediate upgrade at the plate in the infield and should also be a big boost with the glove as well.
Monday, February 01, 2010
News: Minnesota is interested in signing Hudson, ESPN reports, but the Minneapolis Star Tribune says the Twins won't pay $3 million for 2010. As a result, the Nationals are seen as the leading candidate to sign him, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Hudson would be a significant upgrade for the Twins at second base over Nick Punto, so it seems short-sighted that they would risk losing the opportunity to sign him over a few million dollars. It sounds like Hudson may be forced to choose between a contending team offering less money and a rebuilding team offering more money.
