News: Lackey has signed a five-year deal with Boston believed to be worth $85 million, the SI's Jon Heyman reports.
Analysis: Suddenly second-page news after a reported three-team deal that will make Roy Halladay a Phillie and Cliff Lee a Mariner, Lackey gives the Red Sox another top-tier arm for their rotation. Given their stockpile of young starting pitching, the Red Sox may wind up making a trade or two to fill their other needs after ponying up top dollar for Lackey's services on the open market.
