News: Sanchez (knee) agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract to remain with the Giants, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: The contract eliminated an $8.1 million option for next season. The Giants also approved the deal after checking on the progress of his left knee, which required surgery to repair a torn meniscus, so it sounds like he's making progress.

News: An MRI on Sanchez's knee revealed a meniscus tear, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: According to manager Bruce Bochy, Sanchez has more of a tear in the meniscus. Well rehab him. Its probably a few days if not more. This would seem to indicate Sanchez had a partial tear in the knee already. He was sidelined because of the left knee at the time he was traded from the Pirates to the Giants. He underwent a physical and was cleared by the Giants medical staff before the deal was completed.
