News: Valverde has agreed to a two-year, $14 million contract with the Tigers, Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown reports.

Analysis: There is also an option for a third year at $9 million. Valverde will immediately slide into the closer's role for Detroit, leaving Joel Zumaya, Ryan Perry and Dan Schlereth to handle late-inning set-up roles for the Tigers.

News: Valverde has received offers from four teams, Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis: Two of the teams that have extended offers are Arizona and Detroit, both in need of a closer. The market for Velverde has been relatively quiet this offseason, but it looks like he could be signing with a club soon, and all indications point to him being in a ninth-inning role again next season.
