News: Atkins is now in danger of a demotion to Triple-A Colorado Springs, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: "There comes a point where we have to make a decision," manager Jim Tracy said. "We are to the third of June now, and we are talking about getting to the point of a couple of hundred at-bats. But you do get to the point where you have to step back and look at something and ask the question if it's going to happen or not." A demotion to the minors would obliterate any remaining fantasy value for Atkins, who is hitting a paltry .188, slugging .273, and hasn't had a multi-hit game since April. However, with the injury to Troy Tulowitzki, the Rockies are short handed, and will need Atkins around, at least until Tulo can return.

News: Atkins is back in the starting lineup at third base on Wednesday, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: He hasn't started there since Friday, while Ian Stewart has failed to take advantage of his opportunity to take away playing time from Atkins thus far. Both will likely get to play when the Rockies benefit from AL rules during interleague play this weekend.
