News: Santana tossed a complete game shutout to beat the Rays on Tuesday.
Analysis: Santana allowed just three hits, walked two and struck out six in the victory. The outing marked just the second time in his last nine starts he didn't allow at least four runs, and it seems fairly clear Santana's arm is far from 100 percent. As encouraging as Tuesday's outing was, don't expect more of the same moving forward.

News: The Angels placed Santana on the 15-day disabled list Monday, the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Santana said he felt good after Sunday's bullpen session and everything seemed to be lined up for him to start Tuesday, but he later admitted that he felt discomfort in his forearm during that throwing session. The Angels were able to make the move retroactive to June 12, so Santana is eligible to come off the DL on Friday, but it's unclear whether he'll be ready with just a few more days rest. Sean O'Sullivan will start Tuesday.
