News: Niese, who was injured in his start Wednesday, had an MRI later that afternoon that revealed a complete tear of the right upper hamstring tendon from the bone, according to a Mets press release.
Analysis: Niese will undergo surgery for its repair. He is out for the remainder of the season and is expected to be ready for spring training.

News: Niese was forced to leave his start against the Cardinals Wednesday in the second inning with what has been diagnosed as a strained right hamstring, the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Niese was injured trying to stretch at first base to turn a double-play. He had to be carried off the field and was replaced by Nelson Figueroa. Niese is slated for an MRI to determine the extent of the strain and likely absence.
