News: The Pirates offered Capps to the Brewers in exchange for J.J. Hardy, according to an American League source, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: If this report is true, then it shows that the Bucs will likely be looking elsewhere for saves in 2010. Capps endured a campaign of terrifying proportion last year, finishing with a 5.80 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and .324 BAA.

News: Capps threw a scoreless inning of relief Friday night in a non-save situation.
Analysis: The last time Capps pitched without a save on the line he gave up five runs to the Phillies while recording one out. Opposing batters are hitting .311 off of Capps in 2009, 59 points higher than the .252 career average. Capps hasn't relied on a mid-90s fastball this season, perhaps a reflection of the Pirates using him in 247 major league games before his 26th birthday.
