News: Capps agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Nationals, the Washington Times reports.
Analysis: He should take over closing duties for the Nationals, moving Brian Bruney to a set-up role. The deal includes incentives that could push the deal to $4 million and the Nats will control his contract in 2011 as he's not eligible to be a free agent until 2012.

News: In a surprising move, the Pirates non-tendered Capps just before the midnight deadline on Saturday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Analysis: Capps immediately becomes a free agent. He made $2.425 million last season and converted 27 of 32 save opportunities. His 5.80 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and .324 BAA accurately reflected his performance. Capps has dealt with shoulder issues the last couple years and has already thrown in 271 major league games at the age of 26. It wouldn't be surprising to see him catch on with another organization as a set-up man with the possibility of closing down the road.
