News: Gomez did not start Thursday's loss to Baltimore but did appear as a pinch runner. He's started just three games and has 11 at-bats since April 25. He's hitting just .224 overall with only two stolen bases.

Analysis: He did miss a few games for the birth of his first child, but he's losing playing time to Delmon Young and looking more like a fourth outfielder. If the Twins are not going to play him in center field for his defensive value, the team should seriously consider sending him to Triple-A to work on his plate discipline. Still, there's been no hint from management that sending him to the minors is a possibility.
