| News: Redding, already sidelined following offseason surgery to repair a stress fracture of left second toe, developed a sore pitching shoulder in attempting to rush back, and so the Mets have dialed back his schedule, the NY Newsday's Mets blog reports. |
| Analysis: With the rest of the staff already facing hitters, Redding had to settle Saturday for throwing on flat ground from a distance of 100 feet. He anticipates throwing a "soft" bullpen session next week, with the hope he can pitch in a game during the second week of March. As of now, Redding is still the favorite to earn the fifth rotation spot but the longer he remains out, the better the odds get for Freddy Garcia, Jon Niese, etc. |
