News: McGowan (shoulder) took a step forward towards a return with a pain free mound session on Friday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: McGowan's out of options so if he's healthy he'd have to be exposed to waivers if he doesn't make the team out of spring training which should help his bid to make the starting rotation. He's still got a long road ahead of him but Friday was a step in the right direction.

News: General manager J.P. Riccardi could not say whether McGowan (shoulder) will throw in the majors again, the Jays' official site reports.
Analysis: McGowan began a throwing program about a month ago, but he has not progressed from that point. "He's playing catch. He can't get beyond playing catch right now," Riccardi said. His status for this season looks pretty dubious, and those who have him stashed in multi-year leagues should begin to get nervous.
