News: With the trade of Nate McLouth to the Braves, the Pirates are promoting McCutchen, according a team press release.
Analysis: McCutchen had a .303/.361/.493 line with four home runs, 20 RBI, 10 stolen bases and 41 runs scored along with a solid 24:17 K.BB ratio with Triple-A Indianapolis. The .854 OPS is an improvement over the .770 he posted last year, and while he likely won't hit for much power, he should be a solid source of runs and steals.

News: The Pirates reassigned McCutchen to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.
Analysis: A day after lauding McCutchen's spring, GM Neal Huntington predictably sent the promising outfielder back to the minors. "As we try to make logical, rational decisions for what's best for the organization, we felt like it was the right decision to have them (McCutchen and Brian Bixler) continue their development in Indianapolis," Huntington told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Huntington also added that he expects McCutchen to make his major league debut in 2009.
