News: Saltalamacchia will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Monday, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports.

Analysis: Saltalamacchia was hoping to be available for pinch-hitting duties at some point, but has played in just one game since Aug. 14 and decided to shut it down. He'll need 10-12 weeks to recover, but should be ready in time for spring training.

News: Saltalamacchia (thoracic outlet syndrome) will seek a second opinion on Monday and could opt for season-ending surgery, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Analysis: There's no reason to think the second opinion won't confirm the initial TOS diagnosis, though Salty will confer with Texas before deciding on immediate season-ending surgery. He's played just one game since September 2, so those in non-keeper leagues can safely cut bait.
